I have been to Disney several times and never had a DDP. However, we joined DVC and will be spending 4 nights at Sarasota Springs and am thinking about getting the Deluxe plan. We will not be doing the theme parks this trip since we will be off to DisneyLand in June. So I am thinking we will be spending a lot of time at the resort, resort hopping, and Springs so it might be worth it this trip. The 104.00 a day is a lot but it must have perks or pros since so many people use it?We are a family of 5. 2 adults, 1 child but adult pricing and 2 (3-9). So Do I need to buy it for every member of my party? Do I have to buy it for each day of my trip? Any advice or tips would be appreciated!

You are quoting the Deluxe Plan pricing. That one is 3 TS credits, 2 snacks, and refillable mug for each NIGHT of your stay. It also includes appetizers, entrees, drinks, and dessert for every meal. Yes, everyone in the room has to be on the plan, and it has to be for every night you are there unless you want to do two separate stays back-to-back. If you do that, the credits will be available from the time you check in to the resort with the plan until midnight of the day you check out for that stay. You won't be able to use them for the other stay.

The best way to see if it will be worth it for you is to determine where you want to eat and what you might order, and do the math. Most people who do the DxDDP, do some kind of buffet breakfast or lunch and then do a signature for the dinner.

If the DxDDP is too many meals, too much food, you might want to look at the regular DDP, which is $67.33/$24.22, and includes 1 TS with entree, drink, dessert, 1 QS with entree and drink, and 2 snacks per night. The DxDDP is $103.57/37.62

:dog2:We use the DDP because we eat table service for most meals....and we like to eat whatever and wherever....I wish they would make a plan that was 1 table and 2 quick service. Or let's us build out 3 meal option.

You must buy it for everyone on your reservation, and for all nights of your trip. You will have 60 deluxe meal credits (5 guests times four nights times three credits per person per night), 40 snack credits (5 guests times 4 nights times 2 credits per person per night), and 5 refillable mug credits (5 guests times 1 mug per person).

Note that all of these credits, even the meal credits, are pooled and can be used by anyone on the reservation.

A deluxe meal credit can be used as a TS credit (identical to basic DDP TS, except with an appetizer included at menu service lunch or dinner) or as a QS credit (identical to basic DDP or QSDP). Note that due to the lower cost per (TS) credit than on basic DDP and with the appetizer included, using 2 deluxe meal credits for a signature restaurant is actually a reasonably good deal.

Is it a good deal? That depends. Are you you going to use that many dining credits? Do the credit entitlements match the way you want to eat? Run the math - a adult DxDP meal credit is worth appx. $34 and a child's credit is worth about $8 ($32/$10 for 2017)... are your likely orders (including sales tax) going to be above or below that on average?

(For those interested in the math, my old post from here on calculating credit value has been updated over at TouringPlans.com for 2016 prices.)

They do; that's the deluxe plan. It's just not reasonably priced when you use it for quick service meals.

Plug your plans into www.distripplanner.com and see what it says. With a 3/2 adult/child split, you might come out ahead, but it will be close.
