Hi
I'm thinking of adding the DDP for part of my upcoming holiday in April.
I am a DVC member and will collect my first AP when I arrive.

Is there any difference in cost or entitlements for the DDP when purchased by AP holders or DVC members? Trying to find out if there are any 'perks'.

Also, if I decide to purchase plan for a few days, do they have to be 'consecutive' days i.e say my trip is 1st April to 10 th APril and I want DDP for 3rd APril, 6th APril and 10th APril. Can that be done?I'm booked at my home resort-is it easy to do or do I run the risk of losing my reservation?

I'm thinking of doing the regular plan i.e TS, CS and snack on the days that I've booked Boma and a few other 'like' restaurants.

Thanks

There is no difference between the cost of the dining plan for AP or DVC. The one perk that appears to be available to DVC members is to be able to fragment your reservation to have part of your stay with the DDP and part without. Skipping days, as you described, would probably be a nightmare to work out. It probably works better to do 3-4 consecutive days. You can purchase the DDP up to 48 hours in advance of your arrival.

As an annual passholder, you can purchase Tables in Wonderland. It is $75 and gets you a 20% discount on the entire order (including alcohol) for your party of up to 10 people. No matter how many are on the ticket, there is an automatic 18% gratuity. You would probably need to do a number of table service meals to recoup your $75 investment, since it does not work for counter service.

Enjoy your trip!

We are big fans of TIW, a lot more flexibility, however you need to spend about $350.00 on food to breakeven!

Just wanted to clarify that there are a few counter service locations that accept TIW, such as Flame Tree, Pizzafari, and a few resort locations.

I take your point.May have to re-look at those reservations I have!

That sounds a better idea!

WOW-Theres only 2 of us BUT looks like we may have a 2nd trip to WDW a few weeks later PLUS if this is an 'annual TIW', my 2012 holiday may just fit in BEFORE expiry!
Does the clock start ticking form the purchase date AND can I buy it on the day I plan to use it?

There is one other perk for adding the DDP as a DVC member that AP holders don't get. Currently there is no peak pricing for dining plans for DVC reservations. So DVC members pay the same regular price all year vs. the seasonal increase prices.

Starts the day you buy it and lasts abot 13 months!

The other perk I can think of for DVC members is they aren't required to purchase tickets to get the DDP. With normal cash stays you have to at least purchase a 1 day ticket to add the DDP.

AP holders can buy the dining plan (at full price) without an additional ticket purchase and also get a room discount (but no free dining).
