Is CSR THAT bad?

Thinking about staying here for my sons first visit next year,DH liked the look of it,but a lot of reviews are pretty bad,whats the 411 guys?would it be a waste?

I have never been to CSR but from what I gather, the thing that most people don't like is the vastness of it. I am kinda torn between it and POFQ. I hate sprawling resorts but the pool area looks so cool. I'm probably leaning more towards POFQ due to the small size of the resort, but I would also like to try CSR!

We love CSR. One of the things we enjoy about it is that it is spread out. After a busy days at the parks its nice to have some breathing room.

For moderate resorts I have stayed at CSR, CBR, and POR. CSR would be my first choice to go back to, and while I would stay at CBR I would never stay at POR again. I thought CSR was great and the pool is fantastic. I don't remember 1 negative about the resort. I will be there again for a week in June for a conference and I can't wait!

We stayed at CSR last trip and we LOVED it. Granted, we feel that its one of the lesser kid-friendly resorts on property (since it doubles as a convention resort) so we might have liked it better because it was more quiet. The lake and scenic views around it are gorgeous both day and night. We requested a building in the Cabanas so we were two buildings from the main building, so distance wasn't an issue for us. Even if it would've been further, it would've been okay. They have multiple bus stops, so one is going to be close for you and they have long golf-style carts that circle the lake and will take you to the main building.

The bartenders at the bar were super friendly, and we really enjoyed the food at Pepper Market. It is a bit pricey though, but you do get a lot of food. Plus, our bus jaunts to MGM, AK, and EPCOT seem to take no time. MK was a bit longer, but not a problem.

If you do not like big resorts, CSR will not be for you.

CSR is our fav mod right now. The pool is awesome. We like the Pepper market- better offerings than most food courts- we don't mind paying extra for it.

Cabana 8 & 9 are great locations- right near the Dig site and a quick 5-7 min walk to the main building.

We paid for water view- but don't recommend doing so-most waterviews are obscured by the trees- save the $ for food!

CSR is great! My DD and I went when she was 4 and we both had a great time. The pool is great, the bus service is excellent and the resort's size is greatly exagerrated. I thought POR was much more spread out than CSR. Also, being a convention resort is a plus. The pools and buses aren't crowded since all the conventioners are stuck in meetings all day.

I stayed on resort for the first time Sept. 2005 and we chose CSR. It was totally awesome! Obviously I can't say anything for any of the other moderates but this one is often described as the deluxe of the mods - and for good reason! It's the only mod with a fitness facility and it has the best and fastest transportation of all the mods. The Pepper Market is great - lots of variety. And it's so nice to come home from the parks, grab a Corona from Panchito's and lounge under the stars on the beach front hammocks.

I've stayed at CSR a number of times and really enjoyed it - its probably my family's favorite moderate resort. CSR does spread out quite a bit but to me, it's not that much worse than CBR or PO-R. We've usually stayed in the Cabanas section so we could be somewhat near the front desk/restaurant, pool area, and the El Centro bus station.

CSR does host many conventions so there is a more grown-up feel to the resort.

We just got back from a stay at CSR. Loved it! We had booked a room with a water view and a king-sized bed but were given a room with two doubles. They said they didn't have one with a king that day but would move us the next day. We were put in Cabanas 9B. Lovely, but not much of a water view. We asked for a change and they gave us Ranchos (don't remember the number). We looked at it but decided to stay in Cabanas for the day. The next day we were given Casitas 5. Georgous water view of the lake! The pool was very large as it accommodates all sections of Casitas (1,2,3,4,5). We practically had it to ourselves the few times we went there! It was like having your own private pool! Lovely! We never did get to the Dig Site pool (although we did see it. It was very very crowded!).

Anyway, for my money, CSR is terrific! We didn't need the transportation as we rented a car. The Pepper Market was fine (only had breakfast there every day). Didn't have any problem with the size. In fact, I truly enjoyed my walks around the lake. I always took the long way around and the long way back. The walk was wonderful!

I heartily recommend CSR. (BTW, we were two adults with no children, so I don't really know how kid-friendly the place is. There seemed to be a fairly large number of kids there).

It's pretty obvious that the worst Disney hotel is still better than most hotels elsewhere, so CSR I suppose you have to compare it apples to apples.

Unfortunately, my last 2 trips I stayed there, so I don't have much to compare it to. Did I enjoy staying there? Heck yeah, I was in Disney! Plus it was a nice place. The distance to the main pool or lobby and what/not was the only downside, but wasn't even that big of a deal. I even got rides occasionally from passing golf carts.

The best part was one night at the bar they gave us these tortilla chips. They were possibly the best ones I've ever tasted and I regret having not asked what kind they were. I think it was cause they weren't loaded with salt that made them taste so good.

Would I go back? Yes, but I also want to try out other places too.

I guess it all depends on what you're looking for, what you're looking to do, etc.

If anything... most reviews are good. I don't remember reading a lot of bad reviews on CSR. Try it. Then you'll know for yourself. Staying on Disney property is very worth it. CSR is worth to try. It is a beautiful resort. You will enjoy your trip no matter what... you're in the happiest place on earth.

We loved the CSR when we went with the kids. I loved the CSR when it was just my daughter and I and just got back from a trip with just my DH and I and it was wonderful. The CM's were the best. Mousekeeping made towel animals 4 times during our stay. The Pepper Market was great as always. Ate twice at the Maya Grill - wonderful. Spent alot of time at the dig site - very hot when we were there and it wasn't crowded. Made use of the golf cats alot. They just kept circling the resort. Enjoy where ever you stay.

It is my favorite of the mods... I loved it. So did DH and I consider him a hotel snob. My girls always ask when can we go back to the jaguar pool. We stayed at CBR this year (my brothers wanted to stay there- it was a family trip) I regretted it.

Hi,

I think Coronado Springs is a really nice resort, but it is a convention center as well as a resort. It can be a little odd to see all of these convention attendees sitting around the patio eating their lunch in the midst of kids and families. But, what better place to go to a convention????

I like that it is a convention because the buses and pools were empty during the day.

We also just got back from our first trip to CSR. We, too, were in Casitas 5 and had a view of a fountain and the lake. I had bad luck timing my trips to El Centro (the main building) with the hotel shuttle. I only caught a ride on the shuttle once in my 6 or 8 trips to El Centro. Bus stop 2 was much closer to our room than the bus stop at any of the other Disney resorts we've stayed at previously (WL, ASMo, ASMu, Pop). As a bonus, the CSR bus stop at MK is the closest to the park entrance.

We liked the food at the Pepper Market, but thought breakfast was a little pricey ($8.25 for eggs, hash browns, bacon, sausage and either a muffin or biscuit). Granted there was probably enough food for 2 people to share.

We had our 2 boys with us (ages 7 & 3) and spent part of 2 days at the Dig Site. The pool was huge and was not crowded either time we visited.

All in all, we loved CSR and would definitely stay there again!
