Some family members are suggesting the cruise is a good subsitute for going to Disney World. Thoughts?

Going on a cruise is a very different vacation from going to Disney World. When you are in the parks you are constatnly on the go, trying to see everything and do it all. On the ship you will find that there is a lot more time to relax, although there's a real lot to do there, too. I think it's hard to compare the two, they are so different. If you've been to the parks a lot, maybe it's time to try the cruise. Take into consideration the size/ages of your group. We've done both and love both. Good luck with your decision!

I too don't think that the two compare. Yes, when you are at the parks, there is is much to see, you don't get much rest. While on the cruise, you do get more relaxation time. There are also several chances to meet and greet with the characters. I would say that it's easier to see the characters while on the cruise. I've been to the parks several times and cruised once. I enjoyed the cruise so much that I can't wait to go back. There's always the land/sea packages so you can do both in case you can't decide which one you'd rather do.

I find the cruise a much different experience. Much more time to relax and reconnect with my family members. Ports to experience and new friends to make.

Substitute no... great time... yes. We are big WDW fans, infact we try to visit atleast twice a month if not more, of course living about an hour away helps but if we lived out of state I'd have to make atleast a few trips a year. The parks are fun but they can be a tiring time as well, how old are the members in your group?

The cruise is wonderful and relaxing and you still get the Disney Magic the parks provide with a whole new twist. The characters are there, the service is wonderful and of course there is Castaway which is Disney little piece of paradise. Of course you won't be overwhelmed with Disney either, there are adult only areas that are not "Disney" fied but rather very well themed.

I wouldn't say one is the substitute for the other but if you've done the parks before I would try the cruise, of course don't blame me if you become addicted. =o)

DCL cruise as a substitute for WDW...... IMO, no..... BUT, on the other hand the Wonder and the Magic are a fabulous way to get your Disney "fix". Can you do both???? This makes for an ultimate vacation!!! If you love all things Disney and have done the parks, it's time for a cruise.
