Is Captain EO still running?

If not, is there some other show running in its place?

Right now it's closed. Nothing's been announced about when it's reopening, or whether it's going to be replaced with another show or movie preview.

Lately they've been using the Captian Eo theater to preview an upcoming movie (e.g., Tommowland). Currently, there are no previews being shown, but they haven't resumed showing Captain Eo.

Sadly I do not think that Disney has any plans on bringing back Captain EO, I know it is not every ones cup of tea but our family loves it.

So many memories. My dad used to make us watch it EVERY trip when we were kids. We hated taking time away from the rides, but always reluctantly watched it. Now I would LOVE to watch it again....and make my kids watch it!

OMG So funny you say that - my Dad always made us watch it and I couldn't figure out why but now Dad says it was his afternoon break and he slept during the show. Because our break was swimming at the hotel and he obv couldn't sleep while we swam. Hee Hee

Thanks to everyone for the replies.

A week from this time we will be at DLR (for the first time in 39 years), and I will probably check then to see if anything is showing in the theatre. We will have almost 5 full days, and I'm planning on us being able to see and do nearly everything that we are interested in!

There have been rumors flying -- RUMORS -- that Captain EO will return shortly (with lasers and all... hmmm). About a month ago, DisneylandToday told me on Twitter that an announcement would be coming mid-July with the theater reopening "shortly thereafter." Recent pestering has led them to tell me that they have no new info

Fingers crossed. My family missed out on EO last time we were there. I had a few hours in the park by myself and made sure to see it once or twice... or maybe three times.

I really wish it would come back if they don't have any other big plans for that space. I love Captain EO.

I did really enjoy Captain EO while it was at DL, but I believe something new needs to go at the theatre. The show was only supposed to come back for a short time as a tribute to MJ. After a few times of enjoying it, it started to get old. Its a great little show, but there is so much new technology that could be used to create a great new show. I'm surprised that nothing new was created for the 60th.

I feel for sure they will eventually come up with something new for the theater/space, but in the meantime, I'd rather see something there rather than nothing, especially if it's Captain EO!
