We will be staying at CBR and I would like to definitely visit the BW at night and maybe another resort for a dinner. Is the bus travel an hour like some books suggest? That's not worth it to me. Has anyone ever exited the WS and taken the boat to BW and then the bus back to their resort? How late do these buses run? I have a plan to hop from AK at closing to MGM and was curious if I could go back to the RF Cafe'. Will the bus still run that late after AK has closed?

No, bus travel from resort to resort is not convenient at all.

During park hours its not too difficult....go to any major park and you can hop on a bus to any resort....but after park hours you'll need to use the Downtown Disney busses to get from resort to resort...and honestly, they're horrible even to get to DTD and back!

I think your BW plan will work to a degree....getting there is quite easy. But you'll probably want to call a cab to get back to CBR. It really shouldn't cost you much since they're not that far apart. You can't get a bus from the International Gateway entrance of Epcot, and you can't get a bus to any other resort from BW. If you're not out late you could either get a bus back from MGM or walk through Epcot to the front entrance....but neither will work after about 9pm.

I'm really not sure about the AK Rainforest Cafe....do they even stay open that long after the park closes? Generally I think the busses only run an hour or two after the park closes...and I think they are only taking folks away from the park, not to the park. Same thing in the morning....the busses only drop off at the parks, they don't pick up (though we flagged down a bus and got a ride when we needed one).

I say just take the busses and Disney transportation where it will work all right, and plan on calling a taxi when it won't....mainly when you're out late. And if you're taking the DTD busses...plan on at least an hour if not more...waits for these busses are long and the busses are often full.

it really depends when and where you are going. if you are going to the contemporary (for example) while the magic kingdom is open, you can just take a mk bus and walk across the street -- very easy.

otoh, if you want to go some place like the boardwalk from say, the all-stars, you have to take a dtd bus and transfer, and that can often take ~ 1 hour.

Thanks for the advice. I will probably make all these plans and then regress to a 5 year old anyway and forget everything I've read, but I am taking notes.

How did you get the countdown on your reply? Thanks.

You can always go to the RFC at DTD instead. Resort to resort after parks close is a pain.

Resort to Resort can be a long painful journey

When I stayed at AKL and had to get to the GF or CR for dinner I just grabbed a cab it was 15.00 + tip and a real quick air conditioned drive :)

Boy am I glad to read Lesley's reply. I thought I was the only one - take WDW transportation where it makes sense (resort to an attraction). If you want to resort hop - take WDW transportation (or walk) to your resort of choice & then cab back to your home resort. WDW transportation for resort hopping is like practicing to bleed - why do it? Cab rates really aren't that bad - unless you are at AKL, then everything is a trek.

Incidentally, I saw you were thinking boat to BW from International Gateway - just walk it's only 5 minutes or so. Also, RF at DTD.
