We are trying to decide if the BLT is worth the extra 15 points per night for MK view. We normally stay in the VWL 2 br and BCV. I enjoy the relaxing boat ride to and from the VWL, but we are considering trying the BLT. Any help with our decision will be appreciated.

I own at BLT and do not consider the MK view worth the extra points. For rough figuring, I value points at about $10 each. I would not pay $150 (or 15 points) each night to see the fireworks from my own balcony. Especially when I am not in my room at the times of the fireworks every night of my trip. I still strongly recommend BLT, and it is my first choice because I have young children. Staying in either a Lakevew room or Standard view room and going to the lounge to see the fireworks is my best plan.

DH&I stayed in a MK view because we had extra points we had to use or lose. It was great to do once.
Positives:
-you can view the fireworks from your own window and balcony with the music playing through the tv.
-you get a great view of the castle through the night - it changes colors every few mins. until daylight
-you get a great view of space mountain.

Not so positive:
-make sure you are ABOVE the monorail line or all you will see is a peak of the MK, lots of trees and track. I think the monorail is on the 5th? floor, so you want to be higher. How they can price the rooms below in the same point category I'll never know (unless it has changed since when we went in Feb.)
- in order to see the beautiful view, you have to ignore looking over the parking lot. If it wasn't that MK was in the background, the rooms should be billed parking lot view.

Hope this helps. Overall, it was a great experience and we were adults. It would be wonderful if we were in the room more in the eve. during fireworks time, I think we were only there twice. The view from the roof is OK, but it was nice to be in our own room watching. Really depends on how much you really want to look at the MK. I'm sure the other views are nice, too.

We own at BLT and although we haven't stayed there yet, we have a 1BR Lakeview for next June. Thought it was too many extra points to do MK View for the entire stay. Although if I had points like the pp that needed to be used I would use them for a MK view. As well I would like to have the view at least once. Maybe this could be your "once" just to try it out if it is something on your "to do list" of DVC :) and you have the points to spare. Good luck with your decision and have a wonderful trip! :goodvibes

We had a 9th floor MK view last year. Was it worth the extra points? Yes. Would we book it again? Probably, but next visit we have booked a standard 2 bed, the difference in points being the main reason.

If the rooms were categorized better, then yes it would be worth it, once!

But you could pay all those points, and end up with an obstructed view of MK. Yes you can request to be moved, but requests are not guaranteed and if the resort is full, you are stuck with what they give you.

The parking lot is prevalent and you really have to look past it when you are on your balcony. IMO, MK view should be the view from inside the room, framed by the windows. If you cant see the MK from that vantage point, it should not be classified as MK View.

I also own BLT, but I would not be a happy camper if I paid MK points for a suspect view, so I save myself the disappointment and book LV or Standard.

The GV would definately be worth it, because they are all at the top:wizard:

We just got back from Std View 1BR at BLT...it was awesome.
5th floor, and we could see 100% of fireworks from the living room! It was perfect.

We are BLT owners, and IMO it might be worth it once ... but only once. I'm frugal and try to stretch out those points to cover as many days as possible. But spending that many more, just to watch fireworks that I can see quite nicely from the TOTW? Not worth it.

That said, I LOVE the location, the decor, the TOTW. Can't wait for our next trip.

BLT owners here too. We just returned from our first stay at BLT. We had a 1 BR MK view and I would have to say that this is my new favorite view/resort. I would not have traded it for the world. I think it was well worth the extra points....to walk into your room every time and see the MK was wonderful. We enjoyed Wishes in our room every night. I felt it was a wonderful use of points and because of DVC I was able to stay there----never in my wildest dreams did I ever imagine staying that close to MK. We stayed at the CR years ago but only once for 3 days because it was a "treat". Now we can enjoy BLT for the next 45 + years!!! Good thing DVC has different choices for everyone.

Yes! My family and I are also owners at BLT and have stayed there quite a few times, but usually with a lake view- which is also very beautiful! But last May my husband and I took a trip just us and we had a MK view and it was spectacular! That first moment you walk out on your balcony and see the castle from your room is a truly magical moment! We loved every minute of it! The fireworks, seeing the castle change colors, all of it was great! If we had the points we would book that view more often. And yes, make sure you request a higher floor for the best view. Have a wonderful trip :)

We hope to try BLT in the next year or two. The biggest bonus for us would be the resorts location and easy access to the monorail. I doubt I would pay the extra for MK view, but we do look forward to a vacation at BLT.

We stayed in a 2BR LV in June. We could see the fireworks from our balcony, beautiful view of the lake from our family room, the view of the MK and the BLT pool was very nice from within BLT. We loved it so much we are staying there again in January.
There are a number of threads which can help guide you to requesting rooms and getting great views without spending the extra points on a MK view.
