Is Bitbelt required for magic bands?

Is this really needed? Any reports of the new bands falling off? Would my kids need it? We are leaving in 2 weeks and need to know if this is needed to insure the safety of the bands or can we do without?

Thanks so much!

DS started using an MB at 8 without problems. We did peel the excess the shrink the band. The only problem we had was losing the magic bandits, the little button things. The sliders are fine though. You don't need anything to keep the bands on. They are really secure.

I have lost two of my buttons I will no longer buy them or use them

I have two sliders that were free (2013 and DVC), and I really like those for when I'm wearing the band.

We bought them, just because I wanted to make sure the kids didn't lose them. We've used them for 2 trips now, and loaned them out twice. They seem secure, but it helps them sit a little flatter on your wrist it seemed too.

Thank you everyone for your input. I feel like I need them esp for the kids. (4years) but the goody elastics is a fab idea!

I was on site for 24 days in August. I wore a combination of 5 different bands and often slept in them. My husband did too and between us we had exactly one instance of a band coming loose - my husband knocked his weirdly pulling down the restraint on Rockin' Roller Coaster. My husband does not wear a watch or anything on his wrists and fiddled with his a lot and it still did not come loose. I really don't think you'll have a problem even with the 4 year old.

We super glued my son's bandits on because they would come off but we had no problems with the actual bands staying on.

As long as you use all the prongs and holes when you put on your magic band, the band is very secure. If a child fidgets with them, then just bring some duct tape and tape around the end. Patterned duct tape would be cute.

Thank you everyone for reassuring me! Gonna skip the bitbelt and opt for the elastic or patterned tape (if needed)

Thanks again, I knew I could count on y'all for honest and great advice!
Have a happy holidays everyone!

I actually had issues with mine getting knocked off picking up and setting down my toddler last year. My BIL had the same issue when picking up my niece. We both got sliders and then had no problems going forward. My DDs (3 and 9) have not had any issues with their bands falling off.

I constantly knocked off my band when picking up my one year old, and I wear it on on my right arm, but always carry him on my left side. I need something to keep it from coming undone on our next trip, but I haven't tried out anything yet. DD5 has never had an issue with her band coming undone, and she's wouldn't even take it off at night when they first came out. I going to try the slider on the band and test it out at home to see if it will work for me, or if I need something more drastic.

I never wear a watch, but have used MB's for the past two trips, 2 weeks each, and had no problem with them coming loose or falling off. As a matter of fact, I used the same band for both trips, so it was a total of 4 weeks on one band it even after taking it off and putting it back on every day, I still had no problems with it.

I'm surprised to hear anyone has had an issue with the MBs coming off. Seems to me they are very secure if you make sure the little bumps are fastened tight to the holes. Except for a hospital ID, I don't know how they could be more secure.

Does anyone know if the new "thinner, more flexable" MB 2.0's are being issued to onsite guests, yet? Or are they only being seen on the personalized ones in the parks.

I bought them, and then forgot them on our last trip. The first night, my son's MB fell off in the pool but was found by some kids and retrieved. I am constantly reaching into a stroller, picking up little ones...etc and mine fell off (or at least came loose) several times. Basically the excess tab after the "button clasp" can get caught on stuff and then the band just pops off. We ended up using a small strip of duct tape and our problem was solved...yep we are classy :). I'm not saying that you NEED them, but I sure wish I had them. I know people say that losing a MB is not a big deal as you can get one replaced, but who wants to stand in a customer service line for X minutes on vacation if they don't have to. I'd suggest using the hair ties, or just getting the 10-pack of Bitbelts that way they are much cheaper. My wife uses one on her fitbit Charge and wouldn't go without it.
