Is being near the elevators a good or bad thing?

We are in the cat. 10 rooms on deck 5 and are therefore right beside the elevators. This is a good thing for us, I would think, b/c it allows us easy access to the ship. However, I was wondering about noise at night.

TIA!

We just got off the Eastern and were right next to the forward elevators of deck 2. We loved being there and have re-booked the same area for next year. It was very easy even for my 7 year old to find the stateroom! To exit the ship was easy as pie and there was no noise that we noticed.

We were right by the midship elevators on deck 6. We never had a problem with noise, and it was really easy to find our room! :D

The best room I've stayed in was 7106, right across from the aft elevators. We never had a problem with noise, and the proximity made it easier to get around the ship. I would always rather be closer to the elevators rather than further away.

We had deck 2, midship on our first cruise. Right near the elevator and loved it! NO noise problems at all!:earsgirl:

Deck 5 on our last and also on our next cruise in Sept.!

Elevators are very convenient. Deck 5 is a good choice,too- easy to get to kids club, lobby, retaurants, theaters. Also, its a pretty quiet deck.

I never like being by elevators. There is much more foot traffic. I am surprised to hear that the noise is not louder. I guess that I'd rather not have to worry as much about people passing by as I am exiting and entering my room all the time. I have booked rooms mid ship mostly. I sat with some people at dinner who had elevator rooms and really comlained about the children who spent much of the evening chasing elevators for their evening entertainment.

For what its worth, these are my opinions. Another opinion is that Disney Cruise is the absolute BEST vacation!

Happy sailing.

We stayed in room 2570, mid-ship near elevators. We loved it and did'nt notice any noise at all being that close to the elevators. It was a convenience that was unexpected but appreciated. When we go again in 2005 I hope to be able to stay in the same room. We loved the Disney Cruise, can't wait to go again!!

Its nice to hear that most of you haven't had a problem. We are right by the elevators in 6618 and are hoping that noise, traffic and kids aren't a problem. It was pretty much our only choice when we booked.

We were near the midship elevators...we loved it...very convenient. No noise to speak of really.

We were in room 6118. I was concerned when we learned that it was near the elevators, but I did not need to worry after all. It was very convenient to go up to Topsiders or down to the lab for DS. The stairs are also located there and you can use them to keep in shape while eating all of the wonderful food.

We were right by the elevators on Deck 7 and the only problem there was were families (and not many -- I think just one or two) that let their kids scream and run up/down the hallways after 11 p.m. We could hear the parents talking in the elevator hallway and the kids just tearing the place up. This happened two nights in a row but in this case it wouldn't have mattered really about the elevator as the kids were up and down most of the hallway!!!

We've been by the elevators both times we've cruised. We love being by them. No noise, everyone seems to be very considerate or the doors and walls are insulated well. I hope you'll be as happy as we've been. Happy cruising.

The one poster was right about teens sometimes congregating near the elevators at night....mind you it does not happen all the time, but it does happen. On a few of our cruises there would be a large number of teen sitting on the stairs across from the elevators and just talking...but when you have that many teens in one place it can get loud. DCL is good about moving them along..but it does happen.

I would still book a room by an elevator because the convenience outweighs the teens.

We were in Cabin 5524 ( the closest cabin to the elevators)on our first cruise and we did not have any problem with noise at all! There are only 17 rooms that are down that hall going forward so maybe that helps. On our last cruise we were in Cabin 5520 (and we will be in 5520 again in Nov.!!!) again we had no problem with noise. We love these rooms on deck 5 not only because of the secret porthole but also because they are so convenient to the kids club. We also liked being on deck 5 because it is in the middle of the ship, you either go just a deck or 2 down for the restaurants or a few decks up for Topsiders and the pools.
