Is Arusha Savannah @ AKL the Best

I have read a few posters say that Arusha savannah was the best room location at AKL. Can anyone comment on this.

We have requested the third floor on our reservation. What are opinions on which floor at AKL to be on.

I understand that the Lobby is also on the third floor. Would that tend to make the hallway on this floor kind of busy and noisy?

For some people yes, for some peole no. The only truly "hated" by most a locations with views of the people pens, but these too can have great animal experiences.

Don't worry. Just go and get what you get, if you're truly unhappy ask for a change and see what happens.

On my in 20 minutes to WDW and the AKL (for the 13th time)!

We loved it, but in truth it has been the only view we've had!

We're the same as patsal - thought Arusha Savannah was wonderful but it's only view we've had. I did have cousins who got the pen view (I visited their room) and I can see why people don't like it. I'd avoid that view at all costs!

We were at AKL shortly after it opened so not a lot of info on the DIS about it at that time. I requested an upper floor as I thought the view would be better the higher up I was. The CM at check in convinced me to take a second floor room as she thought it was the best. I was happy she did - it was great, we were closer to the animals and saw plenty.

We were close to the lobby end of zebra trail (near the bar) and never had noise problems.

I would definitely ask for the Arusha savanna. All three savannas have giraffes, but Arusha is the only one that has zebras. The CM told us that the zebras don't get along with some of the cattle, so they have to keep them seperated. Arusha savanna also has Arusha rock. All three savannas are supposed to be the same size, but Arusha looked bigger to us. We were on the fourth floor and it was great. We were low enough to see the animals well, but high enough to get a good overall view of the savanna. It's a wonderful resort. Oh yeah I would also ask to be in the third building from the end of either the Kudu Trail or Zebra Trail (looking into the Arusha Savanna). That way you will be looking across into the middle of the savanna and not from one end. That view is great!

We had a Urusha Savannah view (Zebra trail) on the 4th floor. Loved the location. I would ask for it again. We got sun in the morning and saw plenty of animal activity and were very close to the elevators that take you to the pool and food venues.

The pen is an empty corral. I only went to my cousin's room once and I don't think I can tell you exactly where it was, but it looked at this empty corral area with another fenced area next to it with one giraffe out there. Not near as pretty as the landscaping of the main savannahs.

Funny thing though my cousins had gotten a free upgrade to a deluxe room, they aren't DIS'ers and really didn't know that there were much better views at AKL - so they were very ok with their room and loved the resort. I didn't say anything to them because they'd been in the room for a couple of days and why put a damper on their vacation?

Is the third floor too low should I ask for the fourth floor?

3rd floor was great for us. We were close to the elevator down to Mara and the pool. It is the same floor as the lobby. I did not request any particular Savannah view and our room faced the Uzima Savannah. We saw people pens, animal pens, and lots and lots of animals at all times. There are no zebras on this Savannah as they apparently have issues with the Kudu, but it was spectacular none the less. I would not hesitate to stay there again.

I heard that the concierge rooms are on the 5th and 6th floors where the views of the animals aren't so good. Seems strange to me.
