Is anyone's Disney trip still 100+ days away?

If you're anything like me, you like to pay your Disney trip off in advance. You also worry a bit about how you'll save enough spending money for your trip. Kind of a cool idea I thought about this weekend to help save the money, and pass the time:

For me, it'd be difficult to try and bank $75-$100 each week for spending money, every week. Some weeks are simply not as good as others. But one thing I could do, is put aside $10 every day. So, what I started doing is, every morning, transfer $10 from my checking to my savings. Most of us use either phone or internet banking. If we're going to Disney, chances are good we can afford to part with $10 a day.

100 days out = $1,000 saved
150 days out = $1,500 saved
200 days out = $2,000 saved

Just stick to it and you'll have a good chunk of change to take with you!

That's a great tip! I have been getting emails from Citibank about a high interest paying savings account, and I'm thinking of looking into it as a Disney account. That way it won't be easily accessible, and will earn a better interest rate than my savings at my bank offers. We aren't going until November '10, so we have a while to save up a good amount!

Not a bad idea. We have 301 days/ 42 weeks until we go. If we put away $10 a day/$70 a week, we will have $2940 saved up for our WDW trip.

Are expenses will be:

Airfare for two: $600
Room: $ 600 (wife and I are sharing a Fort Wilderness Cabin with 6 other people.
Tickets: 4 day hopper pass for 2: $549.00
Food: $300 will be eating breakfast and dinner in the cabin)
Souveniors: $500
Total = $2549

Money left over $391

im a savage spender...i couldnt save 10cents if you paid me too...unless its in an account that i cant withdraw from...

...so i decided for our next trip to buy gift cards every two weeks from disneyshopping.com or from a disney store...i'll save them and then will use them for spending money @ WDW

Good incentive for kids too! From now till our AUG2009 trip, I tell them "earn" some $ and you can get what you want when we get to WDW....amazing how many times I hear "need any help?"..."will I get paid?".....:goodvibes

I've been putting away whatever I can so far. Just started this Sunday, and I've got $160 saved already. That's almost half a day's spending money.:rolleyes1

I'm kinda obsessed with saving/earning money for our November trip. I have a spreadsheet that I update weekly.

Here's what I've done, and what I still need: My goal is to pay for as much of the trip myself because DH has always footed the bill for all of our other WDW trips. But he has already committed to at least taking care of food and souvenirs.

Done:
Airfare for 5 -$750 on AirTran - already purchased
Hotel- Poly CL- $348/nt, (gotta love my TA!) 1st night's deposit already paid

Need:
Tickets- 6 night Hopper passes $1250 (thru TA)
Rental Car - $250 (already reserved)
Food/Souvenirs- est. $200/day for 6 days-$1200- DH is taking care of this
Hotel- remaining 4 nights, $1392

I know the food and souvies estimate is a bit low, but my 3 kids have been earning their own snack/souvenir money, and since we're staying CL, we'll probably eat the continental breakfast in the lounge a few mornings.

I have a vacation savings account which I hope to bump up to $2000 by Nov (currently only has $650), I have earned $500 in Disney gift cards through rewards programs, I won a $500 Visa gift card from a local radio station, and I am planning on using a credit card for the car rental.

I'm doing the cash jar, and putting $200/mo into the vacation savings account, and will continue to earn rewards credits--but I am always open to suggestions.

We know that we are going to WDW every Summer so whatever money we come back from a trip with (usually there's at least a little bit left over), goes into our next year's vacation jar.

I book as soon as the rates come out and start making payments on our vacation package. I am a seller on ebay and every time somebody makes a payment of $20.00 or more, I immediately pay on our trip. We like to purchase the dining plan so that I know that just about everything is paid for before we ever step foot on Disney property. It's just like having a vacation on layaway!

Whenever I get change back in a store, I drop it in the bottom of my purse. Every two weeks or so, I dig it all out and put it in the vacation jar.

This year, I have extra money to put into our vacation jar. My new boss gives me $100.00 cash every week so I put at least $20.00 of that into my vacation jar.

It's all the little things that add up! Usually, by the time we are ready to head out to Disney, I have over $1,000.00 saved up as extra spending money.

Oh and I forgot to mention too that we have a garage sale every year before we go. My son gets to keep all the money earned and that's his Disney money. He also gets money for good report cards.

We have a savings account and checking account. With my checks I know I need XXX amount of money each pay for living on and then the rest goes into the savings for disney (hopefully won't need it before). We also have a change jar. My husband and I are going to the Fort in January, we almost have the trip paid for with the change jar
