...to read the political threads that have run rampant here? I was involved in 2 or 3 yesterday, but they got me so riled up that I told myself I wouldn't even click on them today, let alone respond to them.

There's much too much going on to be worried about playing the blame game at this point. That can, and I am certain will, come later.

I feel like joining hands and singing "Kumbayah" or something.

Hmmm...Now...where's that thread Lisa Loves Pooh started about hating marshmallows? (Which, btw, is absolute heresy in my book ;) ).

It seems like those threads always become crazy. Seldom even read the first post.

I must be a masochist because... yes, I look at them.
I just can't resist! :bitelip:

When Canadians and Germans started gloating, I had to leave. That's it for me for a while.

Well, I just got nasty with someone on another thread and decided right then and there....no more. I came here to wallow in Disney and thats what I plan to do. I didn't even come to the community board the first few months I was here and I think I'm gonna have to stop comming here.
On a light note...our trip is in 14 days. I've gotten my DME tag, luggage tags (castle), everythings ready to go...I can't wait.

I'm not even taking the time to scroll over them on the main page.

I dont do politics or debates here. There is plenty of that in my real world.

I don't even open threads with "government", George Bush, Michael Moore, politicans... in the title.

Kumbayah, my Lord Kumbayah. Oh, Lord Kumbayah. (be thankful you can't hear my singing)

::yes::

I've even told my friends that if they want to debate the politics on this, take me out of the email.

Just as I did when the debate board was still around, I'll open them, I'll read the posts, but I don't respond to them and I don't participate in the debates.

I like to read them though, because even though a lot of it is name calling, mud slinging, rhetoric, it's also a good lesson to see each side's point of view. It's always a good idea to see things from both sides of the table.

I am not getting involved in them either. I posted something positive yesterday, and it was quickly buried.

I got dragged into a couple yesterday, but I've all but given up - some people have nothing better to do than play the blame game. Mother Nature pulled out all the stops this time and nobody could have prevented this. So many people are working so hard right now to get help to those who need it - it's time to concentrate on something positive and quit blaming people.

This is my attitude as well.

Very nicely stated, Patti.

Obviously, I'm one of the "political" posters on this board, so take this explanation for whatever you feel it's worth:

You have to understand, all of us are feeling angry and completely helpless right now. You can't turn on the television without seeing the devastation, and it seems like it took forever for the government to actually get in there and do something. Because a lot of us are already politically inclined, we have turned our frustration to the people responsible for the lack of response, and we want answers. I'd wager that the vast majority of the people on those threads have already donated money in one way or another, and most of those - including myself - are planning on doing still more once things settle down and they start needing more than just cash.

BTW...I was the person that "hugsquared" decided to get personal with on one of those threads. I didn't report the post, no matter how insulting it was, simply because I realize that we on the "liberal" side of the fence are a long way from being the only ones feeling that frustration. Things will settle down, and there will be plenty of time for blame, and plenty of blame to go around. Until then, it hurts nobody for us to discuss what went wrong, nor for the apologists to blame anybody they can save the man at the top.

But yeah...if you don't have thick skin, those threads are probably good places to avoid for the next few days ;)

I'm sick of them... I stopped opening them. It's time to lay down the sniper rifles for a while people.

I don't open them! Too much for me. I also think it is better not to blame but to focus on how to help. It wouldn't matter who was in office someone would find fault. One side is no better than the other, both just want to "win". Unfortunitly if we don't work together no one will win! How sad that even on the Disney board we don't support each other and find the things we have in common but that we look at what divides us. We can do better. (sorry I'll jump off the box now)

ITA. I like a good debate myself, but this is hardly the time to divide the house. :)

I don't and won't. I checked 2 earlier this week and could not believe the people. So I decided that they were not worth my time. I am upset enough about the poor people on the gulf coast, I don't need that kind of stuff. So I don't get involved with them. :sunny:
