I have attended several over the years and hope to again this year. If you will already be onsite, it's defintitly worth an hour out of your day to attend.
Members are welcome to attend any of the meetings, even if it's not for your home resort.
The "business" meeting is very tightly scripted by the Board Members with no opportunity for any input or questions from those is attendance. This portion of the meeting will last no more than 15 minutes. Jim Lewis will comment on the state of
DVC with an overview of the past year accompanied usually by a video presentation. Afterwards, the resort manager will be introduced and will then present a report about the past year and any plans for the coming year - usually other resort staff will also be introduced at this time.
There is normally about 30 minutes for questions/comments from the floor. Sometimes there are good questions about issues we discuss here every day and usually there are many complimentary comments about how much the individual enjoys DVC. With some of the questions, DVC staff will immediately address the issue and with others they will promise to "look into the issue". Don't expect any "secrets" to be revealed - even in response to a direct question.
The whole event will last about an hour with a brief opportuity at the conclusion to meet the principles if desired or ask another question.
I'd highly recommend for members to attend a meeting, regardless of home resort, if for no other reason than to get a feel for the organization itself. Enjoy the meeting for what it is - but don't expect any real opportunity to discuss any issues in depth. Those concerns are probably better addressed by writing to DVC at Celebration or contacting MS.
Enjoy!
