As if the world has nothing else to worry about they start this! If the world is really going to end on 06-06-06 there is nothing that could be done about it! It is irritating the daylights out of me as the entertianment tonight commerical for it has been on the radio every 15 min. today. Just had to vent that out!

Oh good grief! :rolleyes2

I hadn't heard about this before, but it's definitely the dumbest thing I've heard in a while.

Our date system is completely arbitrary! It means nothing--it's just a convenience for recordkeeping purposes. There is nothing inherently special about any one day on our calendar!

You know what worries me the most about this? There are going to be people who believe in it fervently--and those people are free to both vote and reproduce. There's something worth getting scared about!

The only place I saw it being made a deal out of was the release of some horror movie coming out. It was at the theater.

I haven't even heard that. Well, at least my entire will family will be here visiting then so we can all die together. I'm going to barely miss my 31st birthday though. Bummer!

Actually, those folks might prove to be very entertaining for the next few weeks!! :teeth:

I haven't heard a thing about this...but now I have to go out and spread the panic! :rotfl2:

Ok I'm glad someone else has heard of this. My 95 y/o grandma was trying to tell us about it on Saturday and we thought she was a little  if you know what I mean.

I've not heard any hype about it at all. It's DH's birthday and his mother is ultra religious so he and I laugh about it.

Well, I must be living in the dark ages cause I haven't heard anything about it.
But then again, I really don't watch much tv or listen to much terrestrial radio.

I don't give into these panics. If it's my time to go, then it's my time to go.
I'm not worried about my afterlife. :thumbsup2

I've not heard anyone talk about this either. I'm certainly not going to worry about it.

It's my mom's birthday too!

She isn't frightened though- her favorite number is 6 and whenever we used to tell her that she's a mean mommy she say's it's because she's in with the devil :rotfl2:

I haven't heard the hype, except my own. It's our 14th Wedding Anniversary.

i hope we don't get attacked by terrorists or something.... :sad2:

The Washington Post reported on the significance of that date. The new version of the Omen will be released that day. Satanic Churches will hold several black masses in honor of Satan.

My boss' birthday is that day and I plan to include a bit of the devil in the festivities. Our office is very casual and unlike other managers, my boss does not let his employees wear shorts (I completely agree with him!). The birthday theme will be The Devil Does Not Wear Shorts. Corny, I know.

There is indeed a lot of hype around here, but it has to do with the release of the remake The Omen.

I haven't heard about end of the world gloom.

what is "the Omen?" please and I hate Satanic churches don't they sacrifice babies or something?

There's some awful movie coming out, too.

I get nightmares really eaisly. When the whol Exorcism of Emily Rose commercials were on TV, I went to bed praying for about 2 weeks because I would see those awful faces from the commercials.

We went to see Sentinel about 2-3 weekends ago. There was a commercial for whatver it was...Damien maybe?...DH picked up on it faster than I had (I guess he knew something about it from someone at work) and told me to put my head against his chest and cover my ears. I don't know why those type of movies even have trailers.

1) I hate movies like that
2) I feel exactly the same way. If the world is going to end, it's going to end with or without my permission.

wow...I'm dumb...
here I am thinking it's just another day where the month, day, and year match up....duhhhhhhh it's 666.

"The Omen" was a 1976 (?) movie - Gregory Peck and Lee Remmick had a baby named Damien who turned out to the the antichrist. Apparently, Hollywood is following the recent tradition of remaking old movies and releasing new versions. Here's a trailer: http://www.theomenmovie.com/

The movie's release date, 06-06-06, is a reference to 666, the "number of the beast" in Revelation.

Sure wish Hollywood would come up with something new! :sad2:
