Is anyone cruising with me on the August 27th 2011 Meditteranean Cruise? Hellooooo?

Sorry to hear some people missed out on the pixie dust, seems to be quite a mixed bag of ugrades. We booked two 10C GTYs and both were upgraded to 9B and they're next door to each other. Thankyou DCL!

Yes,I am still going marineland! I have arranged Dolphin Encounter!
Every tourist attraction will be crowded!Every sealife park/zoos have also negative reports of people who believe they know better than the biologists/even sea world has many bad reviews after the whale incident! For those who have not seen such animals,it is still an opportunity to see animals only seen on TV? If marineland was so horrific, why is Disney advertising it also at a higher cost?????????

We are on 2nd seating and have also requested seating alone!
We are afew doors away 6140,unless we get upgrade! Not likely!

Weather roasting/soon fires and before you panic, this happens annually in Europe when temp surpasses 40+ (us med folks, used to it)

looking forward to cruise/not our 1st cruise, but first DLC!
Anyone else staying in Barcelona after cruise? We will stay 4 nights at ICARIA and have also booked zoo/hardrock cafe (kids allowed)

If cruise if FB,then a lot of passengers!

ok,seems we too now are showing a different cabin 6596 (mid ship)
Description is same size, only difference balcony is no longer navigator but varanda?
Is this an upgrade or just a convenient move????? We were (front ship) 6140 previously, now showing 6596 on my reservation?
Is this pixie dust????????

Who knows, may even change again as site is locked at moment!?:thumbsup2:rolleyes:

I'm gonna get on my soapbox here for a moment....
:guilty: I am boycotting all marine theme parks/shows/encounters. If you have never seen the documentary "The Cove".... I highly recommend it. I have had the pleasure of swimming with the dolphins, while pregnant none the less (ahhhmm JrsMommy ), and it was the best feeling, but only cause the dolphin knew I was pregnant and it was amazing to see it interact with my unborn son. Had I known then what I know now about the dolphin encounters, I wouldn't have done it. If it was out in the wild, then yes ofcourse, but it was in a theme park, and this was at Discovery Cove in Florida, which was a great park, beautiful, clean, etc. but just knowing how they obtain the dolphins.... it's just sad. Dreadfully aweful.
Definately watch the documentary and decide for yourself.... but to each thier own.

Hi Diane

You have received an upgrade, your old room was a 7A at the back of the ship you are now in a 5B midship, congratulations.

As for the Marineland thing I think everyone has to make their own minds up as to where they stand on things, I paid for my daughter to do dolphin encounter (in Cozumel) on our last cruise and she described it as the best day of her life. I'm not blind to the issues surrounding these things but I think maybe it is unfair of someone who has already done an encounter and thought it was wonderful at the time to then tell others that they shouldn't do it. If people are going to take a stand on these things then how far do you take it? Do you never visit Seaworld again or Busch Gardens or Animal Kingdom for example? If you dig deep enough you will find problems with any place that involves animals.

On a lighter note congratulations to all those who have upgrades, I think as a group we seem to have done quite well, I'm sure when we receive our cruise documents a lot more will also notice and change of rooms.

I read about the upgrades people were getting and figured that wouldn't apply to us, because I *thought* we requested specific stateroom numbers so probably were not "GTY". Decided to take a peek anyway this morning and noticed:

1) I couldn't pull up our reservation at all, under either my or DW's name!?! Uh oh, maybe we WON'T be cruising with you all, after all! :scared1: Have a great time, everyone!

2) I tried using DD9's name instead and did succeed in pulling up the reservation. And... noticed our stateroom number had changed from #2116 (deck 2, oceanview cabin, cat 9c) to #7100 (still listed as cat 9c, but seems to be a deck 7, *veranda* cabin, cat 5b?!?)

Can this possibly be for real?

Wow! I hope DD9 and DD7 have a great time on the cruise, in their possibly significantly upgraded cabin! DW and I look forward to hearing about how much fun they have ;) (Though I do really hope that DW and my reservation hasn't really disappeared.)

======

In other news, DW is about 80% complete in her home-made fish extender. I'm really impressed with what she's done. Will post a picture of it later, if she's OK with it.

I am glad you are happy to be going to Marineland.
Of course I am not so naive as to think that anywhere has only good reviews. However, I can usually tell by what percentage of revies are poor and also by what people are complaing about if I will like a place or not (for example, any complaints that a hotel room in Paris was too small I write off as the person not realizg how small anything affordable in Paris is:rotfl:). I think you msut be bale to tell if something is to your liking after reading reviews too--since you cancelled your plans to visit the Drach caves based on bad reviews;)

Anyway, my kids are not interested in a swim with Dolphins and if the shows and exhibits are not of a high quality from the point of view of the animals being treated well then it will depress and anger us rather than amuse us--which is not the experience WE are looking for.

I can see where a 6 year old may not notice things that my 14 year old will notice and be upset by. So, when I read the reviews it did not seem like a place that MY kids will enjoy, but that does not mean there is anything wrong with you taking Tiffany there and her enjoying it.

I am sure we will all find things hat suit our families best and have a lovely time:goodvibes

Sounds like an upgrade. The listed category on the reservation will ALWAYS be what was booked and not what you are really in--so whatever the room number is is what you get. I am sure your reservation is there too--maybe you were being moved into the adjoining room at the time and therefore your reservation was inaccesible;)

So many people have reported upgrades that now ibam obsessively checking the DCL website in case we get one. This needs to stop as I really am quite happy with our 9a rooms. I refuse to be disappointed.

:rotfl2: I am doing the same thing (and thinking the same thing--at the end of the day I am just happy to be sailing and don't really spend time in the room anyway:thumbsup2

Do we have to print out again all details/forms etc
on-line check inn????? Do we need to do again?
As I have already posted med form as requested for old cabin number????Di

When will we know for sure, which cabin we will be staying, only asking as want to also send pre- gifts request forms? Is there a possibility, could change again?

As for Florida,it would be our dream to visit either grand floridia hotel/animal kingdom etc,but it is unaffordable and impossible!
We are lucky to be having a holiday at all as most Greeks unable due to economical crisis as everyone owed /awaiting salaries from previous 4-24 months (my husband included)

We went from Navigators Verandah #7120 to Deluxe Stateroom #6094. But went down one floor was looking forward to deck#7 still staying on the same side of ship though. DW does not know what to think of it.

I would say your new room is an upgrade. You now DO NOT have a connecting door (so should be quieter) and are mid ship. Looks great to me! Congrats!

I have been reading all the regular posts been have been quietly lurking and enjoying the discussions. :)

I did want to share that we also had a cabin change and upgrade. :thumbsup2 We were booked into a 7A Navigators Balcony and have been moved to Midship 5A. Nice surprise for our first cruise!! Maybe we got the upgrade becasue we are DVC members? Not sure.

I have stayed out of most of the posts about excursions because we also opted for the ABD Add-on so everything is done for us. I know it is $$$ but hopefully we will enjoy our trip more and eliminate the stress. Is anyone else doing the ABD?? :confused3

Dave

Can't wait to hear about your experience with ABD! I am considering this for a future trip!:goodvibes

Looks like all Cat 7's got upgraded. :cool1:

We are neighbors now, I promise to be quiet.

Midship will be nice.

Don't get me wrong, in no way was I telling her that they shouldn't do it.... my words spoke of my experience and my actions alone. I am boycotting, but it doesn't mean that you should too. My only recommendation was that people should watch the movie "The Cove". I never said that she, nor others shouldn't do it. Sorry for the confusion.

I am so pleased to read all the upgrades that are taking place! I too keep checking DCL website for a different cabin #, but no pixie dust has blown our way. It's okay, cause this is our first cruise, so I don't anticipate much time being spent in the cabin anyways :goodvibes But kudos to everyone getting upgrades!

From what I'm noticing, it looks like those with multiple cabin reservations are not getting the upgrades. I bought my Euro yesterday...rates were down a tad but our government is getting on my nerves with this debt ceiling fiasco, so since it was down some, I bought! Ughh....

My best friend did ABD last summer in the Med and loved it. It did sound wonderful.
Here is his blog about the trip (he talks a lot about the ABD stuff) if you are interested:

We just learnt from our TA that we have been upgraded from our 10C adjacent inside cabins to adjacent 9A outside cabins on Deck 5. We are very happy with this.
