I am interested in doing this, but I don't really know what is involved. Is the time you spend really worth the $$?

Do you actually get paid, or is it just a ploy to get you into their store and you spend your own money?

The university human resources sent out an email saying this was an opportunity, and I could sure use the $!

I've mystery shopped for restaurants. I only shop through one service, which is called Focus on Service. They pay very quickly! The way I see it, it's a free dinner out for me and DH :)

Sorry I can't answer your question but you might try posting this question on the Budget Board, that is if you haven't already. I seem to recall seeing a few posters mention doing something like this.

shhh.. if it's supposed to be a mystery how can I tell you anything? ;)

Actually, you might want to do a board search. There was a thread about this not too terribly long ago with everything you'd ever want to know.

My mom and I did mystery shopping a few years ago but can't recall the company. We both got sent to a restaurant (Smokey Bones) at different times. We were allowed to take one person with us, I took her, she took me. Got paid something like $17.00. Not a lot of money but the meal was free and it was fun. My mom passed away last year so I haven't had the desire to anymore mystery shopping since then since she was my "partner in crime." It's a neat thing to try though-have fun with it.
