Is an MP3 just as good?

ok I'm clueless about MP3's - bought some little something from dh but wasn't smart enough to get music on it - had to go thru their site & all that jazz so I never did get music on there. LOL

so do the Sans Disks have docks available as well?

And what about any other brand out there? Can you tell me what to stay away from?

I'm just interested in music - no videos & would like to choose the songs to listen to - its for dd - but of course I'll use it too

For video, I would go with a minimum of 8 gigs. My 8 gig iPod Nano has two movies, and a handful of TV eps at any given time. That, plus music and podcasts, chews up six to seven gigs on any given week.

after hearing all the great reviews on the sandisk clip i ordered the 2g refurbished on buy.com for 19.99! they have a 1g for 14.99 refurbished as well!

We put movies and audiobooks on the microSD cards, so that they don't hog the hard drive and we can easily swap them back and forth between players.

There is no way I would ever by an ipod for my kids. Way overpriced for a namebrand. When I was first looking for mp3 players for my kids and myself, I went to Best Buy and asked in there mp3 department for some advice between the ipod and the others, the sales rep told me to go with the cheaper models since ipods have more small parts inside and are more apt to break. I have been very happy with my sony walkman mp3 player, I have had it for two years and it is still going strong, very long battery life. FYI if you do receive a itunes gift card ever you can still buy the songs, burn to a cd and then save them to your computer, you can then download them to any mp3 player. We had to do this after my son received one as gift and was upset that he didn't have an actual ipod. Thanks pp for the info on cvs sale, I have to buy my son another one, his christmas list included a mp3 player(one I won't get yelled at for if I lose it) his wording, how funny!!

Well the Best Buy salesman was well.. well informed. Small moving parts my butt! . Some of them are just basically flash drives so there are none of that nonsens. They are not more apt to break-- I'm still working on my original Ipod from 2003 and it still works fine!
