Is an hour a long enough time to connect in Phoenix?

I have never been to the airport in Phoenix before, but our flights were changed and we will now only have an hour to connect in Phoenix. And the flight phl to Phx is only 40% on time. I just wondered if it was a big airport and if we will have enough time.
I know when we went to Ireland and connected in Boston it was a very close call.

On our trip to LA a couple of weeks ago, we had to change planes in Phoenix. We had a 50 minute layover.

Our plane came in at the end of concourse D and our connecting flight was at the end of concourse C. The concourses were small enough that our walk was less than 10 minutes. The kids had plenty of time to pull out their DS's and get bored while waiting to board the second flight :)

But you may want to also post this on the transportation board for other experiences. Those folks are expert flyers :teeth:

It depends on if you are changing airlines or not. I assume since you are coming from PHL you are on US Air. They fly into Terminal 4 (there are 3 passenger terminals). Terminal 4 is the largest, all US Air and Southwest flights come through there There are lots of moving walkways to move between the A, B, C or D gates. I've gone on food runs, while waiting for flights, and I don't think getting around took more than 20 minutes. Although getting from A to D takes awhile, but that would only be required if you were changing from US Air to a Southwest flight.

However, if you are changing to an airline that is not in Terminal 4, you have to leave that building, hop on a bus to Terminal 3 or 2, and then go through security again. I've never changed terminals, but I would be worried with only an hour, because planes might be late.

Thanks for the info.
It sounds like since we will be on usair for both legs of the trip then we should be fine.
