Is AKL an 8 night kind of resort or a last three night kind of resort?

Right now, I've got CSR booked for the first three nights then switching to the last five at AKL........then I was thinking "what the heck, spent all 8 at AKL" so I wouldn't have to switch.............now I'm wondering if we'd feel too secluded at AKL for the entire 8 nights and am also having second thoughts on CSR and leaning towards POFQ.

What do you think?

POFQ first three nights then switch to AKL for 5....or

AKL the entire 8 nights....or

stick with CSR first three nights then switch to AKL for the last 5....or

something else altogether?

Help! I'm confussing myself!

The AKL does feel secluded, which is great... well except that you can see Highway 192 from the front of the hotel sometimes. But the transportation is only about 4-5 minutes longer of a ride than from other areas. It is probablt about the same time to get to Epcot as a bus from the GF. The AKL is great and I loved it. Personally though I like a change in the middle of my trip so I think doing half at AKL and half at CSR (which is a great place too) would be a good combination. Or they way you want to do it is good too with 3 at CSR and 5 at AKL.

To me, AKL is a last 3 night kind of resort. Last trip, I spent 3 days at ASMu and did the "theme park commando", dawn til dark thing. Then I went to AKL and as soon as I walk in, as fanatic a lover of WDW that I am, I had no desire to leave. DH couldn't believe it. I just sat around the lobby and read, watched animals both with and without my binocculars, "poked" around the nooks and crannies of the resort. I can see myself taking a mental break sometime and just staying at AKL.

I could definitely spend all 8 nights at AKL. It is sooo cool walking around the resort, watching the animals, spending time in the gift shop, dining at Boma's, swimming in the huge pool, relaxing in the hot tubs. The bus service is also terrific. Have fun whatever you decide!!:)

I am torn what to tell you. I loved the atmosphere at AKL. But if you want to be a "theme park commando", it's not really the best location for that. While buses are plentiful, it can be a somewhat long ride. And it is hard to go back to the resort and then back to the parks because of the time required for travel. When are you going? Will there be extended hours of summer or short fall hours?

My DH loves the Epcot resort area. I volunteered to change resorts after the first 4 nights, but he said no. Once you get to AKL, you'll fall in love with it. But your vacation will definitely have a slower pace as it is hard to leave this resort! We spent 7 nights here and still didn't find all the nooks and crannies!

Whatever you decide, it will be wonderful because after all it is Disney!;)

We split our last trip between the Poly (5 nights) and the AKL (4 nights), and while I loved the AKL I was glad we did not spend the entire time there. Boma is wonderful, but we did not desire a $20+ buffet every night and the food court food was not that great. We tried to get into Mara, but it was booked.

We eat at the hotel most nights after spending our days in the parks, and we do not rent a car. If that is not a consideration for you, then you may be happy to have the whole week at AKL. We always go in November, when the parks close early. If you are going in a busy time of year, it will not be as difficult to eat elsewhere and find transportation back to the AKL.

We hope to split our next trip between the AKL and the WL.:)

I have stayed at all 3 resorts you are considering with my parents, DH and 4 and 7yo DDs. ALL love AKL the most and none realy liked CSR. If you can afford 8 nights at AKL go for it. The buses are better there then CSR or POFQ. Only serve one small resort compared to CSR or POFQ. If you need/want to split I would do 3nghts POFQ and 5 at AKL. THe problem with AKL is you want to spend all day there lounging. On the back of the maps of AKL are a list of childrens activities that go on all day. It was hard for us to get off the balcony in the AM and hit the parks. Boma is good place for dinner once and Mara the food court is good for a quik fix, as good as the food court at POFQ ( but not as good as POR or CBR.) Our main complaint with CSR is it is WAY to spread out. If you get a room a far distance you will be walking a lot to the main pool and Pepper Market. We found the Pepper Market overpriced and bad quality. POFQ is IMHO the best mod. Small where it is not overwhelming. Nicely themed with a very nice pool. Good luck with your decision its a tough one!

I'm listening and letting it all soak in...one thing I've decided is if I do split it will be with POFQ instead of CSR. I wanted CSR for the bus to boardwalk; since this is no longer available I'd like to stay at POFQ in hopes the boat to DD will be operating in October when we are there.

And ya know something else.........I hear the Poly calling me too. I'd have to get some good code rates to go in that direction though!

We are doing 6 nights Contemporary Tower and last 3 nights AKL. Three nights seems about right for me, but perhaps my tune will change once I stay there. Our family (with three young kids) just loves to stay on the monorail and we are concerned about the location of AKL.

We are going at the end of July and are staying 4 nights at ASMO
3 at POFQ and our last 3 at AKL this is our 2nd trip and I'm hoping
by the last 3 nights we wont want to do the parks as much and just relax and enjoy the atmosphere of AKL. (we have never been
to POFQ of AKL). It sounds like the last 3 nights is the way to go.

I think my problem is that all of the resorts appeal to me and I want to stay at every single one of them...........this trip!LOL

We'll probably end up staying at AKL the whole time, if I do a split, I think it'll have to be with POFQ. DGD likes the look of that dragon pool!

We spent 8 nights at AKL in February and had a very hard time leaving. We loved AKL and could have spent 10 nights easily!:)
