i am in the planning stages of a may 2007 trip and was noticing some of the AAA discounts. i am not currently a member but was considering joining for around $65 or so. are the discounts available enough to make up for the cost of membership?

If you intend to use all or most of the AAA discounts that are provided by membership. I'm not certain that I'd join just for the potential WDW related discounts. :confused3

I think it is. We primarily have it for roadside assistance (towing, battery jump, etc.), but use it for travel discounts quite a bit. We used it twice last year when our car batteries died in the cold weather, and several times when staying at hotels. It paid for itself several times over.

We're saving almost $200 with our AAA discount for our upcoming WDW trip. Definitely worth it!

I've been a memebr for years and they've helped me out numerous times: flats, dead batteries, etc. I've never really explored their discounts much until this year. After reading a post, I booked our Oct trip this year directly through Disney and I asked if their was a discount available for AAA members. The membership saved me $188 for our AKL 7 night stay.

I'm not sure if the discount applies to every resort and throughout the year. If that is the only reason that you may want to join, I would suggest you call Disney and ask for a few quotes for your dates and resorts then ask if their is a disocount available for AAA members. They didn't ask me for my membership # or anything. All that was said is that I will have to show my membership card at check in.

Good Luck.

I joined AAA for $64 and saved $190 on my WDW room only reservation. So it paid for itself in one 4-day trip and then some! :thumbsup2

I just joined a month ago and though I have not used it for Disney yet ;) , I used it when I booked a hotel room for an extended weekend in WIlliamsburg in December and it saved me $28 on that reservation - almost half of the membership fee. SO I am sure that in a year it will pay for itself and then some. I need to call and see if there are any AAA rates available for our stay at the POLY in 2007. All the other little perks i am sure will add up to make it worth the money.

:thumbsup2 Just joined AAA myself. We became interested because of the disney discount but discovered so much more. We received discounts on all travel related charges. A lot of hotels and restaurants offer discounts. We even receive discounted moive tickets to our local theatre (to bad popcorn and soda aren't discounted). We even receive discounted auto and home insurance if we choose to switch.

We ended up paying $116 - covers DH, me and DD. Our disney savings will be approx. $300. Knowing what I know now about the benefits, I would join even if we weren't planning to travel to WDW. IMHO AAA is worth looking into.

We saved about $300 on our vacation to the Polynesian in July--certainly more than worth it.

I just ran the figures for myself...

I just booked next year's trip for 8/4 - 8/11 2007:

3 NTS ASMo, 4 NTS Poly = $1,607.10 w/tax & AAA

3 NTS ASMo, 4 NTS Poly = $1,890.67 w/tax & no AAA

AAA Savings = $283.57 :thumbsup2

Taking into account the $60 membership fee for AAA, I'm still saving $223.57 plus I'm getting roadside assistance. How could you go wrong! Of course, if a code comes out for our dates next year, all bets are off! :rolleyes1

Don't forget if you book through AAA you get the discount card too. It gives you a discount at World of Disney and on some of the restaurants and some of the back stage tours. And thats just at WDW.

I've been AAA member for years (since college) and IMHO it is worth the membership fee just because of the roadside service in case of emergency alone. In fact, we buy it for the whole family as an annual Christmas present. It's great for those young drivers out driving alone when a tire blows or they lock keys in the car. I guess, it's great for the adults that do the same thing! LOL. It has saved us much $$$ for hotel costs over the years and also at places you would never even think of, i.e. payless shoes, etc. We are saving $305 on our Jan '07 Disney stay. In our area they even offer a driver education course that is less expensive than finding a private program and our insurance company has given us discounts for all three kids!
