Have never had a standard view at a Deluxe but due to $$$$, may have to do it for the Fall. Is a standard view worth it? Can't say I would be thrilled with a view of parking lot or kitchen! I know you can always request an upgrade but can't plan on getting one.

Any past experience, negative and positive with a standard at the AKL or WL?

I would say the majority of standard views at a Deluxe resort are not of parking lots and kitchens so I wouldn't worry about it. Request a non-parking lot view and go from there. :flower:

....Just saw you specifically mention WL and AKL. I don't know what their standard views are like.

If the view is of a major concern and you have a standard room booked, politely tell the CM at check-in that you would really appreciate the best view possible. I always book standard at the deluxe rooms and have never had a bad view.:)

I have booked a standard room at AKL before and had a view of the parking lot and the front entrance where everyone pulls up to park their cars. You do have to realize that un upgrade may not happen. That being said, I still enjoyed the room very much.

I am not sure if you are only asking about WL and AKL (ihave only stayed and paid for good views at both of these resorts)... but, here is what i have found in the last several trips: i read, read, read these boards; and read my passporter. Then I have had enough information to request a fabulous (in my opinion) view that I did not have to pay top dollar for. Example: looking over a garden area at BC/YC. We had an incredible room at BW!! i did my homework and reqested an Epcot/ fireworks view.

As a matter of fact, the only place i would pay for the view is at AKL, cecause truly, nothing comares to the savannah view room! (but request Arusha savannah-think- near the lookout rock. That is the view we enjoy the most. I hope this helps... i will be glad tpo try to dig back in my scrapbooks for room #s, or maybe a more recent visitor to the Dis can give you room numbers. enjoy!! kat ps: stayed at WL, AKL,POR, CSR, OKW, BC, YC, BW, CBR... :Pinkbounc

Holy cow!!! If my math is correct...

:scared1: :crazy2: :worship: :bored:
I'm impressed!

I know it's a lot. :earseek: I've been on here entirely too much!!!!!!! :teeth: However, I have met some incredible people and learned a whole bunch.

I believe the standard rooms at WL are pretty popular. They are the rooms closest to the lobby. They generally are the 1st "group" to sell out.

Check out the WL faq thread, part 5. Lots of very good info on page 1.

We booked a standard at WL for last week's stay, it was the cheapest and only thing available for the discount rate we were getting and we honestly care less about what our balcony looks at since we wanted to stay there regardless and knew we'd love it. At checkin, we were told we had been upgraded to a pool view without asking, which was super great but wouldn't have made our stay any different, honestly. We were rarely at the hotel, and I never even had time to sit on my balcony and enjoy the view.

I wouldn't stress about it - book what is the best financial decision for your family today and go knowing you're headed to Disney and are going to have a great time regardless of what view your window has! =)
