is a gate checked stroller considered a carry on?

No.. just returned yesterday on our first trip. On AA it was not considered a carry-on and was very convenient. We simply asked to gate check it with the attendant at the gate, got a pink tag, wheeled it to the door of the plane, and it was there outside the plane door when we landed.

I've never had a problem with a stroller, car seat or pack n go counting against me. (car seat and pack n go checked at baggage no charge-granted this was before airlines started charging an arm and leg for baggage)

Our last trip we checked our stroller and a booster seat. This trip we are checking TWO booster seats and a stroller. It has never been an issue. The only thing I do as a courtesy to other travelers is exiting the plane last. In 2004 I exited when it was my turn then had a heck of a time trying to get my stroller open. People started piling up behind me so I stepped aside and waited so they could go through. Since then I've learned just to be the last family off. The flight attendants are always great about it and pay my kids a lot of attention.

Jet Blue considers them assistive devices and doesn't count. We had me, wife, and DS, DD (not going to WDW though)...

We checked a stroller under DS and a carseat under DD. We had an extra space for luggage returning as me and the wife shared 1.5 bags and the DS took up the other .5, while the DD took a bag.. We did use that last space on return..

great thing about JB is they don't charge for the 1st bag per ticket.. also, I had my laptop bag, which was a personal item and still was able to bring a carryon.
