doesnt really matter what other people think.. it just matters what you think or want

i really think there is nothing tackier than the local typical wedding. I went to a wedding right before ours that was at a hotel type facility that had like 7 seperate banquet rooms with weddings going on at teh same time. Walking around seriously every single wedding was exactly the same, bad lighting, atmosphere, music, food and tons of drunk people. That is tacky, not Disney.

Just seems tacky to me. Each to their own tho, i'd never judge anyones choice, just not for me :)

Well at least you have a good reason...

I totally agree!!! I love that our wedding will be intimate and fun and not be like you described above!!:thumbsup2

Just curious, what do you think the Grand Floridian is? I do not think either are tacky if done elegantly {either local or Disney}, however, I've been to the wedding pavilion with multiple brides names on the board and the floridian's banquet rooms with multiple weddings going on at the same time... I'm just saying people can argue the same thing for Disney as they could a local wedding. Many brides get married at Disney, probably more so then a local venue per year, and Disney offers basic packages you can add {the light castle back splash, the characters, lit up ficus trees, etc, just as any 'tacky' local wedding venue would offer their packages}.

I voted no - to be honest, if it hadn't been for Mickey and Minnie being there, you would never have known it was Disney for my wedding!

We liked the much increased chance of good weather, and the beautiful backdrops for our photos. Not to mention the fantastic customer service and almost zero stress. That is compared to my two brothers who got married at high end hotels in the UK. Their weddings weren't tacky, but they were certainly more stressful for everyone involved (and way more expensive).

LMAO - no one here is likely to say 'yes'.

Although in reality 'tackiness' is a personal thing, so a wedding anywhere can be tacky.

In my and my DF's opinion our DIsney wedding won't be tacky in the slightest. But I'm sure some guests may thing so, as we are having music from Enchanted and then Disney fireworks afterwards.

I have seen Disney weddings that I think are tacky, I've seen non-Disney weddings that I think are tacky. As long as the bride and groom love it than who cares?

A wedding in any location has the potential to be tacky. I don't think there's anything inherently cheesy about a Disney wedding, though.

I think a wedding is as tacky as you want to make it - and that goes for anywhere. Just having it in Disney doesn't automatically make it tacky - no one here is getting married on It's A Small World, getting Mickey to be the best man, or wearing Disney costumes... well, that I know of! Us for example, we're getting married in a Pavilion in the middle of a lake, having a 5-course dinner at a deluxe hotel with a great view, and ending the night with fireworks and a buffet - that doesn't sound tacky to me. We are getting Donald Duck at the reception for 30min but that's probably one of the only 'in your face Disney' moments we have.

Sorry but if you're going to come on a DISNEY weddings board and say Disney weddings are tacky, then you are going to get shot down a tad and people are going to get defensive as 90% of us are getting married in Disney.

Wow I'm sorry I don't have a detailed PowerPoint presentation to show.

All I'm saying is it's not for me. But then I don't like staying onsite.

No reason to get nasty...my point was you just admitted on a Disney Wedding forum that you think all of our weddings are tacky, but couldn't back up your reasoning.

Like other's have said, any wedding has the potential to be tacky but I don't think there is anything about a Disney wedding that would specifically make it so. Like Hayley said, we are having a gorgeous ceremony with a lack as a backdrop and a quiet, intimate dinner with fabulous food (and cake!). Just our opinions though...

From what I recall Luke, you really wanted a Disney wedding but decided it was too expensive.

OK ok, after our amazing trip to Orlando last month, i have somehow managed to persuade my fiancée that a having our wedding abroad will be the way to go (not to mention about 50% cheaper) and have also persuaded her that we should do it in Florida next October (08).

One of the Disney weddings would be my ideal (though more expensive) choice, however any other weddings are still in our thought, as long as we get to wear those bride and groom Mickey Ears on our honeymoon then i don't mind :hippie:

Luke :3dglasses

;) well dug up.

I think I've probably been a bit extreme, and on reflection, as others have said, and cam be said of any wedding, SOME can be tacky. I think that's what I had in mind.

Also I had such a great time at my Orlando non Disney wedding that maye I've evoke a bit of a 'fanboy' in some respect.

Hope I caused no offence, I didn't mean to anyway :)
