Is a Chi worth the money? vs a regular strait iron?

Eh,

Maybe I'm just hating my hair, or maybe I need to stop reading the ULTA ad in the Sunday paper...

I have straight (not stick straight hair) and always wear it in different variations of an inverted bob. Straightening always helps define that "line" but I can never get it as smooth as I would like.

So, is it worth the money?

yes!!!!! I just got one about a month ago. I have straight fine hair cut in a layered bob and it made a world of difference. So much better than the drug store one I had.

Chi is the best I've found. My Chi, ironically, died over the weekend. It was 4 years old and was starting to smell like it was burning all the time. There was no buildup on it,but something was not right with it, so I replaced it with a new one.

I liked my cheap drugstore iron until I got a CHI. I can't believe what a difference it makes on my hair! I have very straight medium thickness hair I use it almost every day.

Definitely YES!!!! I have VERY thick, unruly hair and have tried cheaper flat irons and the CHI is the only that works.

I bought mine almost 2 years ago and its going strong. I have super thick semi-straight hair and have an inverted bob as well. It really helps to get everything smooth and soft. I never had any luck with cheaper irons. Actually I think I have a picture of the difference.

You can often get great deals for under $130 at Ulta That's where I bought mine!

Yes, definately. They end up costing less in the long run, as they last MUCH longer than the cheap ones. I've had mine for a little over 5 years now, and with the cheap ones I was replacing them every 6 months it seemed like.

Yes, the CHI is worth it. I tried several cheap ones and the CHI was the only one that got hot enough and didn't snag my hair.

Yes, they are worth it. I've had mine for over 8 years and my daughter is now using it all the time as well. My neice received a FHI for Christmas and claims she likes it more than the CHI. Just another option..although I think price-wise, they are comparible. I know Costco used to carry the CHI, not sure if they still do though.

Totally worth it!! My sister and I both have one - she has thick, curly, coarse hair (it doesn't look nearly as horrifying at that sounds!). The Chi takes that right out! I can't go anywhere overnight without one!!

Our Target sells them (I don't remember their price), so they might be worth a check!

I have curly hair that frizzes in humidity and if I try to straighten it with a blow dryer.

I went the cheap route and bought a ceramic hair iron for under $20 at Target (not a CHI).

My hair would straighten, but would frizz once it hit humidity.

I bought my CHI in 2004 and LOVE it! I live in Florida, it can get pretty muggy!

Once I straighten my hair with my CHI, it stays straight until I wash it.

The CHI works so great!

Ditto, except the cheap ceramic iron wouldn't even straighten my hair all the way. IMHO worth every penny.

I have just the base model. My hairdresser ordered mine at her cost, about $100. You can get the online for a little less, but if they are not an authorized retailer CHI will not honor the warranty. Unless your hair is super thick and curly the base model should work fine.

Yes, a Chi is better than a cheap $30 iron, but the Chi is not the best flat iron out there. Read these flat iron reviews of the top brands. The reviews are by ordinary people, so I feel the ratings have good credit.

I got mine at the salon in jc penny for around $80-90. They usually have a coupon for 20% off coupon in the sunday newspaper (with all the ads)!

I paid $85 for mine. Regular price was $99.99 and there was a 15% coupon in a Sunday paper back in October.

Mine is the base model. I paid $80 for it last week at BJ's Wholesale Club. The one I had before (that ended up breaking after 4 years) was also the base model. Back then I paid $90.

We were just talking about this at work. There was a consensus between some of my coworkers (African American ladies) that the CHI didn't work for their hair, but the Bliss brand did.

Otherwise, the CHI was a decent brand.
