Is a backpack too much to carry around?

I was going to carry a cross chest purse thing but then I got to thinking if I bring a purse type bag, guess what, mommy will be carrying it the whole time because daddy and two boys won't want to wear a purse LOL so I thought of a backpack, but now I'm thinking it might be too big and bulky (we have the larger LL Bean backpacks) Is there a good Gender neutral bag that's smaller and sling-ey so we can all take turns with it?

I carry a Patagonia Atom Sling bag. It's a one strap backpack. I LOVE IT. It's not too big but it carries a ton without feeling heavy. My husband has a backpack too. It's a manly colored North Face backpack!:thumbsup2

I've tried carrying a backpack but found I prefer the cross chest purse. I'm always afraid I'll forget it on a ride or somewhere, plus it's bigger to carry and makes my back sweat. My son carries one and doese't seem to mind packing it around.

We always take a backpack. With 3 kids it's great for stashing snacks and a bottle or two of water. We use a backpack cooler that we got as a Disney visa gift a few years back. It's great because the inside is waterproof so we don't have to worry about our phones and cameras getting wet. I usually stash a few ziplocks for misc. things and a foldable recycle sack incase we need to discard our morning sweatshirts as we usually visit in the winter months to escape the Pennsylvania cold. Enjoy your trip!!

A backpack would be HOT.

If you are only adults going I don't seee the need for a bag at all. $, tickets, camera. Good to go.

With kids we take a smaller cross check bag.

When taking any of the grand kids I carry my Baggallini. If its just me and DH I carry Vera Bradley Hipster or Vera Bradley mini Hipster.

I'm debating between a sling type back pack or a dreaded fanny pack but was wondering, what do you do with them when on rides? I have enough belt overhang already and worry about a fanny pack not fitting with harnesses and such and a sling might be to big. I looked at the disney map and only see lockers by the entrances.

We are plannng on taking a backpack but I'm also wondering...What do you do with it when you are on rides? In the past, we have either had someone that doesn't like to ride the rides hold onto it or we've left it with the stroller. It's just going to be DH and me this time so we are going to be keeping up with it the whole time.

Some rides you store your bag under the seat or in front of you. Others you just have to hold. I'm always afraid that I'll put My bag beside me and forget it. With the cross body purse I can keep it on and know it won't be left behind anywhere.

We go the first week of Sept every year, and we always carry a backpack. I love it, and I've tried other options but always come back to my Camelbak (Octane). It's no hotter to me than anything else that hangs off of me :rotfl:.

Plenty of room for everything we need to attack the parks from rope drop through evening EMH's. Me and DH take turns with it or it can ride in the stroller while DS walks for a bit if we'd like.

I use a backpack. I have a DD2 & DS6 so there's alot of cr@p coming along with us! haha then again I can stash it in my stroller... so... I might consider getting one of those small hiking daypacks. My brother has one of those and its great- small AND comfy. Plus, guy or girl can wear; so no excuses from DH! :groom:

We have a small "mini" backpack we bought at an ABC store in Maui that we like to use when venturing out to local zoos, amusement parks, etc. that I would take to Disney in a heartbeat if it weren't starting to tear apart. :sad2:

Our little backpack hold ALOT without being overly heavy, and my DH doesn't mind totting it around occasionally either - likely because it is hibiscus blue Hawaiian print, so not overly girly.:scratchin

I would post a link, but it appears they no longer have the little backpacks online, nifty little bag that it is!:scared:

DH carries a back pack. Regular size. He's also pretty obsessive about making sure we have anything we may need (tylenol, bandaids, ponchos, extra bottles of water, etc) We'll take turns carrying it depending on who has the baby. It works out good but we also take it everywhere (not just disney), mardi gras, other family vacations, we don't leave home without the backpack! :-)

We always carry a Camel Bak. We fill the "bladder" with mostly ice & some water. It kneels us cool & hydrated. It has room for a few other necessities as well. We haven't had any problems carrying it on rides. We just loop the strap around a leg so it doesn't fly out.
