Is 7 days too long

we went for a week ( sun - sun) . both sundays were travel days. so had 6 full days. We did 3 days at DLR. 3 days are good. you can do one at DL one at DCA and the 3rd day for doing anything you missed. But if you can do 5 days, i would suggest that. then your not as rushed to get from ride to ride, as you have more time.

if you are also interested in doing other attractions, i would suggest going to Costco Canada.ca and checking out the Southern california citypass. it comes with 3 day Disneyland resort parkhoppers, 1 day seaworld and 1 day legoland . (when we went they citypass had universal instead of legoland) When you get to Disneyland, you can upgrade the 3day pass to a 4 or 5 day pass.

So we did 3 days disneyland resort, 1 day seaworld, 1 day universal. and we also did knotts berry farm. there is so much todo in southern california.

When you go to select your check-in/check-out days on the front page of the Disneyland website, it won't let you select anything longer than 6 nights in length. Anyone know why?

If it were just me I could do 7 days easy. But my DH isn't as Disney obsessed as me and gets burned out around 3 days. Mind you, we don't have kids and go at a pretty rapid pace. With our touring style we go all out in the morning, do the relaxing afternoon break or people watch, and come back at night. We aren't huge parade people so that isn't a big draw for us. Spending a day at Universal Hollywood or Knotts Berry Farm would be a nice break if you didn't want to do all 7 days at DLR.

Seven days too long? Not if you enjoy taking in and seeing EVERYTHING! We go through every store, see every show, and ride most of the rides. We check NO Square train depot to make sure the teletype is running w/Walts speech from the opening day at DL. We check the Art Gallery on Mainstreet USA and look at every item on display. We Look at the Art Work on display in the DLH & the Grand, the latest Disney Character PINS available about everywhere for trading & collecting. We enjoy the character meets in both parks, riding the streetcar in CA & the Mainstreet USA horse drawn streetcar and the riding up and down Mainstreet USA on the top level of the bus!popcorn:: We do all of it at a very relaxed pace:tinker:. We treat DL as a Resort, not a quick one afternoon amusement park. We do our best to do everything and see everything at a relaxed pace and take lots of photographs. This includes the pools, waterslides, hot-tubs, cafes, and character meets in the DLH and the Grand.
Seven days too long? Several years ago we went for ten days(the last year they offered Ten Day Park Hoppers):smickey:, it was F U N ! Hey, we watch the Parades from a different place every time we see one! We even go to the back of the gift shop in the very back of Critter Country at least once every trip for some fresh FUDGE that is made while you watch! It is amazing how quickly five or seven days will go by when you are taking your time and doing everything :earboy2:

3 days is a really good amount of time at DLR. Enough time to see everything. Last trip we did 4 days and the 4th day was just repeating our favorites and taking an easier pace.

We're going 5 days in a couple weeks, but MLK weekend will be really busy so we'll use the (hopefully) slower Tues/Wed to see things we don't get to that weekend.

7 days, probably a bit much for me and our family. If we spent 7 days in the area we would probably hit up Legoland and Universal a couple of those days.

My mom treated us 4 daughters plus spouses and all grandchildren to a full week of park hoppers (and hotel and spending money!) at Disneyland as a way to remember her father who had passed recently. We were at the parks most of the day, each day. It was not too long for us! It was wonderful to explore and take our time. It almost felt like the longer we were there, the more we discovered and wanted to do. We actually left feeling like we didn’t even get to everything! That being said, it’s such a personal preference. No one knows but yourself how you like to travel and experience places. For some people it would be too over stimulating or too much “Disney” (gasp!)
Our children ranged between 2-14 on that trip.

It really all depends on how quickly you can get tired of Disney I guess. I absolutely love Disneyland (I could live there if I had the choice haha) but my husband get's Disney'd out after three days. So that's what we've stuck with the last couple times. I think 7 days would not only allow you to enjoy both parks to their full potential, but you could save one day to explore the hotels and Downtown Disney.

I think it is too long. I would lose my mind if I was at Disneyland/CA for a week. If we are in So Cal for that long, we do many other things. If it's strictly a Disney trip, we like 4 nights and fly home late on the 5th day. That works really well for us. It's a short flight (Seattle) so just a hop up the coast.

Went to DL once... a while ago and only spent 2 days.. 1 per park... My oldest daughter went last year with her mom/family and they spent a week there.. I asked her if a week was too long for just those 2 parks and she said no.. they alternated parks each day and had a grand ole time... also stayed inside at the Grand Californian... said it was the best resort she every stayed at and she has stayed at all the monorail resorts in Orlando..

Yup I think its a go. Flying from the north east, Toronto, and staying onsite(hoping) then I would think we would just hang and enjoy, dont know when we would be back to the west coast again.
Is it easy to get from the airport,,lax

While many prefer the smaller local airports, being locked into LAX is okay...
Heck..... you're destination is DISNEYLAND.

It totally depends on what you want. I wanted 5 days, DH 3. We compromised at something like 3.5 days. Even DH admitted that was too little. We did have a 4 YO who napped (in theory -- that did NOT happen at DLR). I think I could easily occupy the time you are talking about at DLR. If you want to check out other places, that is an option too.

I couldn't handle 7 days at DLR. I'm done at 5 and 3-4 is best for me. Now, having said that, I will add that I go fairly often (usually about 6 times/year) and would rather have a lot of trips for a few days than a few trips for a lot of days. I just can't take it after a while, even though I'm a Disney nut, but I'm lucky that I can come back in a month or so and do it again :). But even if I didn't go as often, I would still burn out with more than 4 or 5 days at a time.

I really agree with DizMe.

After 3or 4 days, I have sensory overload. The music and crowds get to be too much. Also, there is "pocketbook overload." Disney parks are pretty spendy, at least to me, and as I get more and more tired, there is a law of diminishing return on the money spent.

We spent 5 days at DL at the end of May/early June this past summer. It was wonderful. Stayed at Hojo's. 5 days was really great. We didn't feel rushed each day like we do if we go for only 2-3 days. We took breaks every afternoon at the hotel. It was a very relaxing vacation. I would do 5 days in the parks again no questions asked.

I think that 7 days would be great, too. But then you run into a challenge with tickets. They only sell up to 5 day tickets. Beyond that, you'd have to get a 2-day ticket after that or buy an annual pass.

If you just stick with the 5-day tickets, then there are lots of other fun things to do in southern CA for days 6 and 7. And you don't have to rent a car for the whole week. You could just rent a car for a day or 2 at a time. There's a car rental facility in DTD.

Yes, this is how it is for me as well. After a while, I sort of shut down and I need to be somewhere that isn't so frenetic. That's why shorter trips are better for people like BayouQueen and me. If anyone in your party has sensory issues, migraines, crowd anxiety, or things of that nature, then 7 days at DLR may be too much. For me, I just want to go home. I don't want to go to the beach or Knott's or anything else. It's the sensory stuff--even though it's so cool, it wears me out after a while.

ETA: ...and DEFINITELY wears down the pocketbook!!!!
