My husband and I are taking my son and his family (wife and two boys) in February and my other adult son who has no wife or children wants to come along. It seems that 7th person makes things odd. Was going to get two rooms but now it seems crowded, even ressies seem like 7 is an off number.

Any suggestions for a family of 7? I'd rent a house but we would need multiple rental cars. :confused3

I don't get it. Is it the number of people, or how to fit in the son without kids/wife that you find challenging?

Lots of SUVs and all minivans hold 7...

Good luck.

Well, to answer the question....yes, 7 is an odd number. ;)

But I don't see the problem. Put the family of four in one room, and then if you and your son don't mind, you guys could share a room. :confused3

Or, you could look into DVC villas that have higher occupancy capacities.

As far as cars....my Honda Pilot seats 8...I'm sure you could rent one of those or similar vehicle/van...no need for multiple vehicles.

I think 2 rooms would still be fine? Your son, his wife, and boys in 1 room. You, DH, other son in another room. Depending on your budget if you do 2 values , mods, or deluxes or you could rent DVC points for a 2BR Villa for around 2400-3000 (played with dates at David's and the rates were all between that for 5 nights)

What resort do you have in mind? I was thinking if you want something less expensive, you can go with two moderate that sleeps 5 in each room. It has two queen beds and a Murphy bed that sleeps a child under 9. This is at the POR in the AB section. It may be a little tight in the room, but it's definitely doable.

Lots of good suggestions already given. I would like to add that you could get two cabins at FW. Each has a bedroom with a double bed and set of bunks and a living area with a double murphy bed and full kitchen. Your married son and his family could be in one cabin and the other cabin would be for you and DH and your other DS. Lots of space this way. You wouldn't need to rent a car(s), you could use Disney Transportation.

We have 4 kids and our oldest is married now so we are a family of 7. We all fit in my Chevy Traverse. As far as rooms, yes, let the family with kids have one room and the unmarried son stay with you and your hubby. Our situation is harder, hubby and I and daughter and her hubby each want our privacy, but then we have 3 other teens. It is tough!

The reason we would need more than one vehicle if we stayed off site is that we will be splitting up a lot. So far, I like the two cabins idea. Would we need 2 golf carts? Lol

Have u looked at bonnet creek (next door to carribean beach)? Free shuttles to all parks and really spacious accomodations...

I have rented golf carts and enjoyed it, but there is no need for golf carts, if you don't want to spend the additional money. FW has great transportation. There is an internal bus system as well as an external bus system. Boat to MK, WL & CR.

I don't know about Bonnet Creek, but I would suggest renting points for a 2 bdrm DVC villa. It will come out much cheaper than 2 cabins and you will get to all be together. We have done 8 twice at OKW and had plenty of room - they have the largest villas. We even had an air matress in the master bedroom because it was so large, so one of our sons slept there and our little one slept in the king bed with us. Grandma and grandpa, along with our 2 other boys slept in the other bedroom. It was nice because we could stay up late or get up early and have the living room to relax in without disturbing people who were sleeping. We also cooked some dinners and had breakfast in the room. The living room has a sleeper chair and sofa.

We've gone as a family of 10 twice now. First time, we stayed for a week during easter at POR. It ws a little cramped, but we all managed just fine. Didn't spend much time in the room anyway. We always rent cars, so we got 2 minivans that time. Second time was this last December and we rented a vacation home in Windsor Hills. It was perfect for us. Lots of private space and ots of bathrooms. Own pool, game room. Only paid $2000 total. Plenty of extra money for parking and car rental! Would nver go another way with a group that size. Have also stayed in the cabins and I don't think there is that much room. The bedroom has a full size bed I think and bunk beds. Very little room to store anything!

What about three rooms at All Star Sports? The grandsons would love that and think it was the most expensive place. I've never been there before.

Or how about the Movies with Buzz and Woody?! Or how about the POP Century! It's a fun resort and it's only across the AoA where you will find the Radiator Springs with Mater and McQueen and The Lion King!

Or you can go with POR so your grandson can enjoy both pools at POR and POFQ! You guys can also take the boat ride to DTD! Your grandson might enjoy the carriage ride at POR/POFQ!!

So I showed the grandsons some of the other ideas, including Sports. My 9 year old said, "but is it close to evertyhing...is there a boat...is there a monorail?" maybe starting out with the Poly was a mistake. He wants to stay at the Comtemporary. But for 7 of us. Maybe Bay Lake Tower?

Is it safe and convenient to rent DVC from person to person rather than a website?

If you were starting out with 2 rooms at the Poly for 7 it will certainly not be crowded! Not sure I understand the problem, except the cost for 2 rooms.

Personally, when I get a 2 br villa I prefer to not have anyone sleeping in the LR, so it can be used by people not sleeping!

You could have most of the group take Magical Express from the airport and have all of the luggage delivered via Magical Express, and have have 1 or 2 people pickup a rental vehicle that will seat 7. Do the same when returning from the airport. Or you could pickup a rental at the Car Center by MK.

Dining at Disney in a group larger than 4 is a challenge, but it works out in the end.

This. Other than if the CR or Poly is more than you wish to spend, there will be no problem with 2 rooms. Of course, you must decide if you are comfortable with sharing with your adult son. No way around it your grandson is right the CR, Poly and GF are very close to MK and hence easy to get around. The Boardwalk resorts are close to Epcot and HS, we find location to be invaluable. If you value space and privacy on a budget you may find off site lodging to be your cup of tea.
