Is 57-58 Old?

I'll be 56 on my next birthday and I do not find myself old.
I lost 2 of my best friends when I was 30 to diabetes. That was the year I was diagnosed. I'm still going strong. Several years ago I lost 4 of my students within a few months. Now that was devastating as they were all very young.
I have survived and I will continue think of myself as young and keep on.

No, having been there and done that a couple of years ago, I don't think 58 is old. As I like to say, I can still do what I could do ten years ago -- it just takes me twice as long to do it, and twice as long to recooperate! But I probably wouldn't have considered going to Disney alone ten years ago - but I decided if I wanted to go, I better not wait around too long to enjoy it.

Sorry for the loss of your friends - that's tough to go through in one year.

The year I turned 50 I was complaining about it. My 70 year old uncle gently asked me if I had any idea how much he would like to be turning 50. It's all in one's perspective :-)

Also...after my mother passed away a few years ago, my father, 78, reconnected with a lovely widow, age 76, whom he had known in his youth. They began " keeping company ".

Just last weekend my Dad called to tell me they were moving in together because " they may only have 10 or 15 years left ". I can guarantee he would not think of mid fifties as old.

No Mamu. It's not old. I don't think 90 is old either. When you look at the age of the Universe, we are all babies! Our bodies may feel old, but our spirits are forever young. :D

Nope, no way, no how is that old!!! I'll be 55 next b-day. I've been losing people too. It is just horrid. This whole facing your own mortality thing is for the birds. I also am 'seizing the day' so to speak. My mom passed away 2 months ago at the age of 73. She was vital and vibrant right up to her last day. We just lost a 19 y/o on THanksgiving Eve to a car accident. Too many are dying. That's about the only down-side to this aging process!! Many hugs to all of you who are losing loved ones.

I'm sorry Mamu, it's awful losing people that are close to you. And no, it's not old.

NO! I consider 95 old now! my Dm is 67 and she is so vibrant...I just don't consider 65 old anymore!

(((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))) to you on your loss...I'm so sorry to hear about all of your DFriends...:(
