Is 417 faster getting into WDW then taking 528 - Interstate 4?

I have read in the past that people claim RT 417 is a lot fatser getting to WDW, taking the Bee Line Expressway RT 528 - Interstate 4. Anway is this true because my family & I have always taken 528 - I4 & do not see any problems with this route.

Depending upon the time of day (traffic) the 417 is more convenient as it avoids I4. Also, depending upon where you are staying the 417 may be more efficient.

If you've always been ok with the Beachline and I4, stick with it.

Unless it is the PM rush hour, there is no problem with 528 to I4. When everyone is trying to exit Orlando, you can have troubles with that route. You may have some problems at the first actual Disney exit but usually you are further south of most problems when entering at 528.

417 is usually always a less congested route, but not always.

I think part of the reason why we are use to 528 - I4 is because we use to rent from the Alamo Rent A Car when they were off site from Orlando International Airport & since they were right by the entrance to 528, we got use to it when leaving Alamo.

Alamo is now in terminal.

I have always used the south exit to 417. Very little traffic. I-4 can be a mess.

BTW- it is now the Beachline not the Beeline. 417 is never crowded. You can arrive at WDW relaxed instead of stressed that you came on I-4.

When did they change the name from Bee Line to Beachline? When DVC~OKW~96 1st said it I thought it was a mistake. Oh well it looks like I learned something new.

I believe they began calling it the Beachline because it is probably the most direct route to the eastern beaches in central/north Florida. We have used 417 for the past several years and make it from MCO to WDW in probably 20 minutes. Never hit any traffic. I think the tolls are about $2.50 (give or take .50) Well worth it to us not to fight I-4 traffic!! As a matter of fact, if we're going to Universal we don't even use I-4, but, go north on Apopka-Vineland for several miles and then cut across Conroy (I believe). Haven't gone to Universal in about three years, but, I think it is Conroy. It's far easier than fighting traffice on the highway.

Sorry......it's not Conroy, but, W. Sand Lake Road, then turn left on International which runs right into Universal Blvd.
