So I'm in the midst of planning my first trip to Disneyland and I'm trying to decide if three days will be enough. Right now it looks like based on our flights that we will actually have about 3 1/2 days, depending on park hours the day of our arrival in October. I'm wondering if with just 3 days if that will be enough to see most everything? Any help is appreciated!!!

Yes, 3 days should give you enough time to do everything plus revisit a few of your favorites. In October the crowds should be lower, although the hours may be shorter, but you should be fine. Just try to get there before opening and use Fastpass when necessary.

IMO, 3 days is the perfect amount as long as crowds aren't bad. We had 4 full days for our first visit to Disneyland, but most of the 3rd day and the entire 4th day were spent re-doing our favorites.

I am going with a package plan and at first thought I would do the SCCP, which included 3 other parks. I later changed it to a 4 day park hopper because even though my flight got in early enough the first day I was told unless I had my own transporation there would be no way for me to get to Knotts Berry Farm that afternoon. Than I found out that Disney charged an extra $80.00 for that bus transportation to the other parks. (Knotts Berry Farm, Sea World, San Diego Zoo & Wild Life Zoo). Also the ticket would need to be used first at one of the Disney Parks. So I am going to just take my time, and go to the 2 Disney Parks and Downtown Disney.
If all you plan on seeing is Disneyland and California Adventure than the 3 days is probably enough, but if you plan on seeing anything else, you may want a couple of more days.
This is just my opinion.

Thank you so much guys!!!! When it comes to Disney World I've got it down pat... just wanted to make sure I'd have enough time for everything. We are only planning on doing the two Disney parks and Downtown Disney.... thank you again all!!!

We had four days there on our first visit but took it at quite a leisurely pace.

It took is 2 full days to see all of DL and less than 1 to do DCA - on the fourth day we redid our favourites in both parks.

So I'd say 3 was the minimum needed to have a perfect time.
