Is 2016 a good year to visit?

There seems to be so many things going on that makes 2016 appear to be a questionable time to visit such as the ongoing construction for various projects, cutbacks on characters, increasing prices, etc. I would like to make a trip in early-mid December with my family, which would be their first visit (my second). However, I'm beginning to have second thoughts. I'm curious to hear opinions.

Even with the recent cuts and construction projects, WDW is awesome. There's never a bad time to visit!

In December, the following should be open: Revamped Soarin', Frozen ride and area, new Star Wars fireworks at HS, Toy Story 3rd track, Rivers of Light. There is A LOT to be excited about.

You can't wait for the perfect time...there will always be something going on there, some kind of construction, something on refurb, what have you. There are a lot of new things opening as well, so don't sweat it.

Depends.
This is their first trip so everything will be new. my family were annual visitors so were skipping until something worth while comes along to justify the price.
Fireworks aren't enough for us.
You'll have a ball.
Besides they won't have anything to compare it to. We've been to HS so we notice how empty it is.

As long as the most important attractions are open, I would say yes! I try never saying, "no" to a WDW vacation when the situation presents itself... Have learned that the hard way. Some opportunities don't come back for various reasons. Go for it!

Yes 2016 is a bad year! lol.....just kidding. Thought maybe if I said it was a bad year folks wold stay away and make the lines shorter. HAHA...that's my wishful thinking. Agree with everyone else, there is never a bad year to visit.

Our first trip as a family was in Summer 2012, right before the Fantasyland expansion opened. In many ways, that was our favorite vacation. It was all new and full of Magic! I remember riding Dumbo and looking over the construction walls to the Casey Junior Splash Station thinking "Wow! That looks awesome! Guess we'll have to come back and check it out next year." Plus, early-mid December is such a lovely time of year to visit. All the decorations are up, Main Street is breathtaking, EPCOT is so much fun with all the presentations, crowds are manageable~ You will have a great time!
:tink:

As others have said, there will (hopefully) always be something under construction or closed for refurb. so I wouldn't base whether I went on that. Go enjoy.

We're looking forward to November of this year. The only near(er) term construction I don't expect to be open is Avatar.

I sure hope so because it will likely be the only time we ever go twice in a year!
I would base it more on the ages of your kids, your finances, etc.
The construction issues might get better, but I don't think prices will get better in the foreseeable future.

If you've been every year for 10 years, it might be a good time to take a break, we are going to take a break after our APs run out (we have only been a handful of times)...but we would have taken a break most likely anyhow and return when our youngest are school-aged.
But if everything else works out for you, and this is a first or second trip, I would go. Even with the construction, cutbacks, there is still enough to fill a vacation.

I don't think anytime is a bad time to go. I would go whenever is possible! But the cuts won't be noticeable if your not use to them in the first place.

December is a great time to visit and they have so much going on. It is our favorite time of year!

Thanks for the feedback. I hate having second thoughts with Disney. Lately, it seems that I've come across more negative than positive thoughts on Disney lately. Plus, the series of closures (particularly HS) created some doubt. There are still outside factors stemming from my family (potential scheduling conflicts) that will influence our decision, but it's glad to hear some positive feedback from others.

I just returned from a WDW trip, and I had a marvelous time. I visited with a "first timer", and she had a great time as well. There's lots to do in all of the four parks. The holidays are special at WDW. Especially in the MK and Epcot. I loved the different Christmas trees. I haven't been in December since 2007, but I assume they still do the Christmas trees at each park.

I would say for 2016 and 2017 could be the worst. Hollywood studios has half it's attractions closed plus if you wait another year all the new stuff at animal kingdom will be open. We've been season pass holders the last 10 years and have canceled this year just because we feel this is the best time to save money till all the major contraction gets done.

First, you have to consider the entire "negative" (and for the record imo voicing legitimate concerns isn't negative) response.
Say for example, visitors who are like me, once or twice a year visitors who have been for the last say 7-8 years. (I've actually been an annual visitor much longer) sorry no way are you going to convince us that we are getting the same "bang" for our buck. that doesn't make us negative. quite the opposite, most of us are disney fanatics. we'd have to be in order to plunk down the money we do.
Next, truth is truth. no way, no how can anyone justify HS the way it is now. Yes I'm slap happy that they are going to upgrade it but it's been a long time coming and it sad that Disney has let it get to this sad state. lol, you know how long they have been talking about a new star wars land? So it's a slap in the face to continually raise ticket prices while not having a full 4 parks. LOL personally I think eveyone should get a free park hopper option to make up for HS.

Yes, most of us always have a good time. it's kinda hard NOT to have a good time but the fact is most of us have a limited amount of dollars and time to spend on vacation so we need to choose carefully. My family has a "good" time no matter where we go. we have a good time at great adventures, at a phillies game.

I think most of the "negative" thoughts are not really "negative" but more "sad". we have a love for a product and we see that product going downhill. that makes us sad.

Sorry, if I came across as being too critical. "Negative" may have been too harsh a word. However, I agree with what you're saying, especially with HS. I've been following the news surrounding the current and future state of HS. It could potentially be quite a few years before my family can make another trip to WDW, so I would like for them to enjoy 4 parks that are worthy of their admission price. I'm sure that I can plan a memorable trip, but as you mentioned we have a limited amount of dollars and time so we need to choose carefully. By the way, I second your proposal for a free park hopper lol.

We had a wonderful time last year and are headed back this year. It's always a good year for Disney World!

It depends on how often you can or want to go. Lots of people here go once, twice, or three times a year. For them, there is never a bad time to go. But if I knew that I could only go once in the next 36 months, no if ands or buts, then 2016 would be my least favored choice. I would give it some time, hopefully until Avatar opens up.
