I have a 12:39 flight going home.Am I cutting it close? I was told to get a flight after 12 noon. I might have to really hustle to get to the airport on time but the later flights were really expensive.

nah, go for it... as long as the ship clears customs on time, everyone is usually off the ship by 9am, so they can turn the ship around for the next cruisers who will be arriving around 10 a.m. and waiting in line to get on around 12 noon!!

We had a 3pm flight, we didn't feel like renting a car for a few hours, so instead of hanging around the airport for 5+ hours, we reserved a day room at the Hyatt, we were off the ship by 8:30 a.m, at the Hyatt by 9:30 a.m. and could rest and relax until our flight.

You should be OK. We were able to get off the ship, take DCL transportation to WDW, check into CBR, get into our room and make it to Epcot before 11:00 a.m.

We asked DCL about flight times for our 11/04 cruise and we were told that as long as we arrived BEFORE noon on the day of departure and departed LATER than noon on the last day of the cruise we should be all set...I would say that you should not have a problem making your flight!

Plenty of time. DCL asks everyone to be ashore by 9 am. It takes 10 minutes to get luggage and clear customs, then 45-50 minutes to get to the airport. I once had a 12:30 flight, but got there early enough to make the 9:30 flight!

I agree with the previous posters...Go for it... 12:30 should be fine. On our recent cruise, we had a 12:50 flight. We got off the ship somewhere around 8:00 am. We had plenty of time to eat breakfast at the airport and do some shopping before catching our flight.

Mary :)

We just left the Magic on 1-10-03. Our flight was 12:45 and we had plenty of time. Better than sitting around the airport all day...

Thanks everyone for your help.We made our flight ressies for our May 22nd sail.

We flew Spirit Air out of Detroit, and I too was concerned about which returning flight to book. We had a choice of 11:45 a.m. or 7:40 p.m. Traveling with my elderly parents we didn't want to have to rush, so we ended up choosing the late flight...BUT...we were at Beach Blanket buffet having breakfast at 7:30 a.m. and got off the ship by 8:30 and onto the DCL bus to be taken back to the airport. We got there about 9:30, so took a chance to see if there were any seats available on the earlier flight home. There were!! So, we changed our flight and came home hours earlier than we were scheduled to. We were HOME before the late flight even took off the ground. :)

I had NOT been looking forward to spending ALL DAY in the airport. Tried to talk parents into getting a day room at the Hyatt but they didn't want to spend the $$. So, we would not have either. That would have left them in the airport sitting alone. :(
I'm just glad it worked out the way it did.

I HIGHLY recommend Spirit Air, very VERY reasonable rates ($185 round trip per person) and EXTREMELY helpful and polite staff!!!

I have a couple of questions about the DCL bus:

If we take this from the port to the airport, do we handle our own luggage or will they have it put right on the bus?

How early do the buses start running?

Our flight in December was at 10:40. We did not check our baggage and kept it in our room (everything on wheels). Our DD dropped us off at MCO around 9:00 and we were fine.

The buses start running as soon as you clear Customs. You claim your luggage and pass through customs, and take it (or have a porter take it) either to the DCL bus or if your airline is there at the check in desks...there are a few, not all airlines are there.

If you have to take it to a DCL bus, make sure you get on the bus your luggage goes on..... the driver will put it under the bus and when you get to the airport, he asked us to wait a few minutes on the bus while he took all the luggage out first. There are porters at the airport who will glady take your luggage in for you.

We got off when he was ready and got our luggage (and of course, gave him a couple of $$). We were staying at the Hyatt (dayroom) until our plane was ready to leave, so it was way too early to check our luggage in, we had to wait until 11am.
