Ironing in your stateroom?

:earboy2: Hi all! I know that Disney says no ironing in your stateroom...my question is, Are any of you guys guilty of taking your irons from home and doing the ironing yourself instead of having it sent out. I am a stickler for getting out all those wrinkles and I always take my iron anytime we stay overnight. Will they take my iron from me if I pack it?
Thanks, Mandy

We never take ours....If I need to iron, I go to designated laundry area....

They won't take it but it's more convenient to iron in the laundry room. No place in the cabin for it.

Just my two cents, but having your items sent out is very reasonable! :earsgirl: I was surprised last year when we sent out 7 pieces (DH, DD and I had all of our formal night clothes pressed) and our bill came to 24.00ish. They charge only 50% of what dry cleaning would cost, and it saved us time. While true that ironing is available in the laundry room, it gets very hot in there, so you might not want to iron right before you need your clothes. (I learned the hard way.)

I don't know if your iron would be confiscated.

It is against Coast Guard regulations... not just DCL regulations; ironing in your own cabin puts a huge number of people's vacations, and possibly lives, in jeopardy... you might want to rethink it!!!!

(P.S.... a cruise line reserves the right to remove a passenger for violating Coast Guard safety regulations- wouldn't that be an awful end to your trip?? Try explaining THAT one to the kids...)

Thanks for all your tips! I can't believe that the prices are that cheap.....maybe I will have to send them out. That is a great deal. Thanks again for all your replies. Mandy :bride:

I agree with Mickeyhugger. We sent ours out as soon as our luggage arrived in our stateroom. Price was reasonable and I hate to work on my vacation so it was really worth it!

I don't want to sound like a home shopping junkie, but what about "My Little Steamer"? Would that be okay? It's not an iron, and it uses tap water...

Probably not a safe idea.l

From the DCL site - link

"Is there laundry service?
On board, laundry and dry-cleaning services (with stateroom pickup) are available for a charge. There is also a self-service Guest Laundry Room with coin-operated washers, dryers, detergent, and ironing equipment. For safety reasons, irons or steamers may be used in the laundry room only. "

I've always found it curious that steamers aren't allowed, but hair curling and straighting irons are?? :confused3

Please tell me that you're not sailing August 20 from LA to Port Canaveral. The lifeboat drill is bad enough -- we don't need the real thing!!!
