Iron ons from drawing?

Hello, I wanted to have DD make some personalized potholders for her relatives by drawing a picture and then ironing it on. I wasn't sure if I had to get it copied onto the iron on sheet or if she could color right on it. It didn't matter because I couldn't find anything other than inkjet transfers at Walmart. Does anyone know how to do what I'm trying to accomplish? Thanks!
