Iron-on transfer paper cracks when washed

Can anyone recommend an iron on transfer paper that won't crack in the wash? I'd love to design some T-shirts for our upcoming Disney vacation, but the last ones I made using HP brand iron on transfer paper cracked when I washed them. I did not put them in the dryer either.

HELP! :guilty:

Thanks!pixiedust:

I have had good luck with the Avery brand paper for DARK shirts. The light transfers that I have used have always cracked and peeled in the first wash (or even sooner).

I made ds some pajama tops for his birthday in mid-May with the Avery dark transfers. Each has been washed about a half dozen times, and they still look great.

How dark does the shirt have to be in order to use the DARK transfer paper? Could you use it on red and blue cotton T shirts?

:thanks:

You can use it on any color shirt. The difference is that the light transfer paper is transparent where there is white in the design. On the dark transfer paper, the white is actually white. Therefore, you want a frame or something if you have a white background and are using the dark transfer paper. I think that I'll be using dark transfer paper on everything in the future (including white tees) as it seems to hold up better in the wash, etc. from everything that I've read on here.

I also use the Avery dark transfer paper from Walmart. I've washed and dried my sweatshirts 4 or 5 times since our trip. They are still not cracked. I do wash and dry them inside out as recommended. You also want to get them out of the washer & dryer immediately when they get done. It isn't good for them to sit all crumpled in a heap. There are others that buy their transfer paper off eBay. Hopefully, one of them will post a link. If not and you want to try that, send me a pm and I'll find the info in one of the old threads for you.

i like dark papre best for any shirt color. i got mine on ebay from mariettaangie.
