Does anyone know what it is called?

It is the tape you can get at the local fabric store and you can write on it with sharpie and then iron it on clothing.

I went to Walmart and the fabric lady sold me the WRONG STUFF! Now all the labels have come off, disintegrated in the wash and they leave for camp in about 36 hours!

HELP!

What do I need to get? I can go this afternoon and get this done this evening if I can figure out WHAT to get.

Thank you,

Dawn

Noone knows?

Thankfully there is really no item of clothing that I would care if they lost, but they did say to label all clothing.

Take a sharpie and label the tag. We've done that in the past without a problem. It doesn't wash off or anything.

I have never used the product you are asking about. Have you gone to JoAnn's to ask? I'm sure they would know what you are talking about. If you find an honest salesperson, more than likely they've dealt with it and can tell you if it's a good product or not.

I have done that, but you can't read them all clearly.

I may be able to stop at a fabric store tomorrow. The nearest one is 20 miles away from me, which is why I haven't been able to go the last couple of day, well, that and I thought I had the right stuff.

I don't think I will have time to actually iron them on before this camp though. If they have the product I can use it for next camp.

ARGH!,

it won't help for this one but I believe they sell embroidered ones that you can either sew on or iron on. It's been a while since I've seen the advertisement for them. Look in the back of a magazine for them, I am not sure which one though.

Key to the sharpie on clothes is getting the fine tip ones. I don't bother with the other ones anymore. Hubby buys the thicker ones for construction stuff, other than that the fine tips are more useful than any other tip. (*IMHO of course.)

Too late to help you, but I have ordered preprinted name labels for nursing home residents that have held up well through the repeated launderings for a couple of years. The sewn-in type works. The iron-ons do not.

Thanks. Yes, I do know you can order them, I just didn't do it because I figured this would work, AND this camp opportunity came up just over a week ago and we jumped on it. There really wasn't enough time even then.

Anyway, my friend thinks it is this one.......I will stop at the store today and see if I can find it:

If I can't find it, I will just stick with the sharpie and not worry about it.

Sharpie. Only. In 10 years of getting kids to/from camp, we've only used Sharpies and have never messed with iron-ons. They have thin-tipped ones if you can't read yours. I only use initials on stuff like underwear and socks.

Good to know.

I am not even bothering with socks as I got them for .25 each at the thrift store. Actually the T-shirts were about the same.....they said to bring grubbies you don't mind ruining, and really, I don't mind if they don't come back with any of the clothes.....I do hope they come back with their hiking boots, but other than that.....

I do have a label maker and have labeled all their toiletries and such with that very clearly. I am mostly worried about my one son losing his bug spray as he gets eaten up. So I gave him THREE small bug spray bottles! I also gave him two clearly marked anti-itch cream for his bug bites or he won't sleep well.

Let us know if this works. If so, I will try to look for it for when my kids go to camp.

Were you able to find this at the store?

It's called witchery stichery. You should go to a hobby or sewing store and buy it.

Sorry, yesterday was absolutely crazy with me running in about 10 different directions not even related to camp.

I did not get it or have time to go to the store.

Another camp starts in 2 weeks and I do plan to try to find it before then.
