My husband just booked our plane tickets and rental car for our Ireland trip in May :scared: I'm so nervous about traveling as it is, and now all the way to Ireland! Our good friends are getting married, the whole reason we are going.

And you know the never ending sickness in this house? Both dd's still aren't 100% and now ds who spend the 5 days in the hospital for the rotovirus has now been struck down by the cold, and he's gotten it BAD. He has 104.4 degree fever and he's having a tough time with the congestion, huffing and puffing. We are doing breathing treatments with the nebulizer and giving him tylenol cold. Gotta call the doctor in the morning because he's been pulling on his ear, so thinking maybe ear infection too. WILL IT EVER END??????

Anyway, that's been our weekend... we did manage to see Curious George though.

You'll get there! The sickness will pass. Think good thoughts.

You'll have to post a trip report when you get back. I would love to go to Ireland.

Here's some luck of the Irish for ya'. :thumbsup2

Thanks! I know we'll get past it, but 3 weeks now seems awfully long.

I can't wait to go to Ireland, just a little nervous about it all. Will be away from the kids for 2 weeks. My grandparents, aunt and mom went there last year and loved it. We are a very irish family, so it's visiting roots and all. It just so happens our good friend is from Ireland and that's where they are getting married, so lucky for us!

Can I just say - I am SO, SO, SO jealous of you for getting to go to Ireland! How long will you be there and what areas are you going to? My husband and I went in 1999 and we had so much fun. I am waiting until our kids get older and then we are going back for a long vacation! Have fun! :)

I can also feel your pain on the rotavirus. My son spent a couple days in the hospital 2 years ago because of that nasy virus. :( Hope everyone is well soon!

We are going for 2 weeks. The wedding is in Northwest Ireland, Mayo... we will be there for 5 days. Then we will go down the coast for a few days and probably head over to dublin for a few days. Not totally sure of the plans yet. Probably will get a bed and breakfast for a few nights at a time in different regions and go out from there.

Being you have been there b&j's mom... any recommendations?

DH, DMom and I were in Ireland last November and we had a blast. I love the eastern and southern coastline areas. The Cliffs of Moher are amazing. Very rugged coastline and amazing views. Nearby is the village of Doolin. They are famous for traditional Irish music. Every night the pubs would be full of people laughing, singing and having a fun time. It was great "craic"!! We met the nicest people while staying in Doolin. If you get a chance to tour the Aran Islands, very quaint. Unfortunately, we were only able to spend a day in Dublin. But, we had a great time. Next time we will spend more time in Dublin. If you need any information, let me know. You will have a great time.

I second the vote to be sure and see the Cliffs of Moher! They are breathtaking. The day we went there was a woman playing a lyre (spelling?) and singing Irish songs and it just added to the beauty of it all. We went to Europe in May of 2002 and Ireland was our favorite place! We're going back in 2008 and I can hardly wait. :woohoo:

We loved the Cliffs of Moher - it was so windy I thought I was going to literally be blown away! It was amazing. The Ring of Kerry was really beautiful, too. We drove through Ireland on our own, went to a couple of castles, kissed the Blarney Stone. I am trying to remember all the towns we went to - Limerick, Adare, Killarney. We never went to Dublin, we just didn't have time! We loved going to pubs, listening to the music and just enjoying the country and people there. So fun! All of this remembering makes me need to set some solid plans for our return!

ETA: We loved a little town called Dingle. It is a tiny little village. We spent the night there and then drove around the next day and looked at these beautiful Irish cemetaries. Hope that doesn't sound strange, but it was just a nice, peaceful day.

Adare is beautiful. DH and I love it there. They have the traditional thatch roof houses with the English gardens. Just beautiful. Julie, I have tried to get to Dingle both times we were in Ireland. We were doing a self drive tour. So, we would call the day before to make reservations for accomodations for the next night. The first time we were there it was racing(horse) season. I had no idea. We could not find any rooms anywhere near Dingle. Well, now I have an excuse to go back.
