thats probably the best price your going to get, i know it stinks lol...but its worth it. Ipods are the best, you can fit so much music on them! ...i have an Ipod Mini and i bought it for $250. Usually the 40 mb are $400 so $389 is a little better...lol..but its worth it

You can get an educational discount if you are still a student or now work for an education firm.

If you meet that criteria, you are able to get about $30 off the 40 GB Ipod. We wound up buying the 20 GB, instead of the 40 because of the cost. (I am still a student after all!)

IMO that adapter ( the FM transmitter one ) is absolutely worthless. Poor quality sound, and in big cities it is darn near impossible to find a frequency that isn't in use.

If you want to go cheaper, then maybe 40G's are too much. I mean, that's a boat load of songs. I've got 20G's on mine and have about 500 songs on it and i've barely scratched the surface.

But then again, if you've got a boat load of songs....

ETA, you can save close to $100 with the 20G's. Also, if you want to go through eBay, you might be able to find 40G's cheaper than your original price.

Check COSTCO because I have a 15 gig IPOD and love it. If you have a COSTCO membership or SAMS club membership, they have some pretty good prices in there...Happy hunting...

Checked http://www.pricegrabber.com looks like the cheapest one it found was $374.90 with shipping from MP Superstore.

By the way, have a second generation ipod for a long long time now and I love it. Got a 20 Gig and it's just the right amount of space for me. I could load 40 gig worth, but most of it I wouldn't listen too. I love itunes though, awesome program! Good luck!
