I meant to reply to this thread last night but I see you have already ordered.

For the past 3 years, during May-Aug, if you order a computer through Apple you get a free ipod touch and a free printer. So, if you were planning to get an Apple laptop, you could have gotten a free ipod with purchase (although they haven't announced this year's education discount/giveaway.)

I see you already got a case too and it probably fine, but we did get the Otterbox as I have 3 BOYS who like to play with the ipod touch and it is a great protective case.

Hey Guys, OP here, thanks for all your wonderful information. Some I wish I had seen before I ordered yesterday evening. I ordered her the 32 GB with her name engraved. I also got the screen protector, case and wall plug. She is going to be sooooo surprised! I can't wait.

Oh, and it's already shipped from.................CHINA. It should arrive on the 29th.

AND....this is the most I've ever spent on one birthday gift (including for the triplets together, but they are after Christmas and by then I'm broke).

Next, she gets a laptop for graduation!

She is going to have to figure out how to transfer her music from Zune to itunes. Although I don't know if that's even doable. I just hope she doesn't have to start over again with her music collection. Thanks for letting me know about Netflix, we do have a subscription.

I've also heard you can text and put apps on the itouch. It all confuses me because it sounds like an iphone but not.

I don't think you can transfer from Zune to iTunes, but I know anything I download to iTunes has also downloaded to the Zune program. I am pretty sure she is going to have to start over.

There is an App store app already loaded and that is how she gets her apps. There are many that are free, like the Netflix app, others range from like $0.99 and up and she can purchase those with her iTines card or CC, whatever you choose for her to have. Some, like the Netflix will only work in a WiFi area, though.

I don't know about texting, I have seen apps for that, but I have a Blackberry for that.
