Do the apps take up a lot of space? I really think 8G is too small - I could get a cool Nano with that for much less - however I don't really want to shell out $300 for 32G. This is the only thing my son is asking for. I have basically said he is crazy, but I am trying to figure out a way.....

Is there a fee to use the wi-fi feature?

No fee to use wi-fi, as long as you are somewhere that offers free wi-fi (like your own house), Starbucks, Panera, etc. The Nano and Touch don't compare in my opinion. I think we are leaning towrds the 32G for DD.

and will you give me an example of app priCing? I tried to find the app store on the Apple/itunes site, but may be I looked right over it. Any info greatly helps

and do you get the apps through the ipod itself or through itunes and then synC to ipod

You can do it either way. You can purchase and download music and apps thru the iPod Touch or online thru iTunes- then sync to the iPod. Prices for apps range anywhere from 'free' to .99cents to $99.99 or higher. Most apps are around 4.99 though.

The apps by themselves don't take up a lot of space--it's usually the fault of video. :goodvibes I know my iPhone holds a lot of apps but it's all the video I download/sync that compete for memory.

Also, when you connect your iPod in iTunes you'll be able to see just how much storage is being taken up by Apps, Video, Music, Photos, etc.

I started out thinking the 8GB would be sufficient but my sister really talked me into the 32GB so I wouldn't need to upgrade it. She said after a couple of movies on the 8GB it's nearly full (with the other things as well - music, pictures, apps, etc.). On my current iPod I have almost 2GB alone in music - which honestly isn't a lot I think. I trust her advice when it comes to all things electronics so I'm going to get the 32GB.

Since I already own an iPod I've already started downloading my free apps to my itunes account. I have not paid for a single one yet and I think once you get in there and look around and see all the cool, free apps you can get, you'll be amazed. The DIS boards has a great thread going as well - as another poster mentioned. :thumbsup2

Hope this helps,
Heather
