If you already bought this for your child for a gift, how much did you pay... and if it was a great deal (always looking for one!) where did you get it?
:flower3:

I got dd an 8GB 2nd gen. from overstock during bing's double cashback but I decided not to keep it because it was a refurb and the back was scratched. At first I didn't care but it just kept bothering me. I got a great deal on it but I'm glad I decided against that because TRU was running a great promo last week. I got her the 8GB brand new 3rd gen for $189 (price matched their online price) and got a $25 TRU giftcard and a $15 itunes card for free.

Apple's online store had the 8GB 2nd gen refurbed for $149, and the 16GB for $199. I'm not sure if they still have them in stock. The refurbs direct from apple come with brand new casings, so they wouldn't be scratched.

WOw, those prices sound great! I'm off to check them out now. THANKS!

Costco offers the best deal around on iTunes giftcards. You can get $60 worth of cards at a discount(I think it's maybe a couple of bucks) but, best of all, sometimes they have them on a real SALE... You can then get $60 of iTunes giftcards for a *big* discount, I think the last time I saved maybe $10?

FYI - The iPod (and its funding) can become a great reward-system for any kid :-). Word to the wise - Be careful that your kid doesn't run up a lot of charges and start charging stuff on your credit card, keep your eye on what they're buying. That's why I like the iTunes giftcards. I can pre-fund their account and the amount that is waiting on the account sits in that upper right-hand corner.

agnes!

Thats exactly what I do, that way dd knows exactly what she has to spend and no excuses for going over. She wants a song right now but only has 33 cents on the account so she knows she can't get it yet. We owe her $13 for yardwork yesterday so she just asked me if I could get her an itunes card instead and take $2 from it for myself :)
