iPod service plan?

Hi all,

does anyone know if there is anyplace that sells extended warrenties for ipods? I don't like the TRU plan (expensive) and the AppleCare plan doesn't cover accidental coverage. Is there an online place that sells the service plans?

Best Buy does. It is $69.99 for Ipods $200-$249, less for more inexpensive ones and more for more expensive ones. That is for 2 years including accidental damage. It even covers water damage UNLESS it is immersed in water. DS got an Ipod Touch in August and I just had to take it back Tuesday. He dropped it and it wasn't working. Not only did I get a new one(new generation too), but since the new ones are cheaper than the old ones, I got money back.

I highly recommend buying a warranty through SquareTrade.com. They are very reputable, and have much better prices than Best Buy, Apple Care, etc.

If you google, you can almost always find a coupon code for about 20% off their normal prices.

Thanks for posting this...we just bought DD a ipod touch for X-mas, and am trying to figure out if we want to get a service plan or not.

I do have a question...what type of device is an ipod touch considered?

we bought ours specifically at best buy for the warranty. personally I'd rather take it in than have to call and mail it if there was a issue. Mine also was $49.99. You just never know and for what Im spending its peace of mind just in case..

Yes, I recommended Square Trade above. I've bought a couple of plans there for my laptops. They are highly recommended...just do a Google search on them.

Thanks sherry7, got the Itouch 8 mg warranty for $23 for 3 years including accidentical insurance too...

that was better than what TRU offered...$22 for only 18 months!!

Thank you so much! I needed a warranty for my 42" Vizio tv and was able to purchase a 3 year warranty for $47.99 with the code! I plan to also purchase a warranty for my touch (under $20 for 2 years).

From what I saw, there is a $50 deductible for accidental damage. That would be the most likely thing to happen to DS' Ipod, and why I went with BB warranty.

FYI - If you are a WI resident - apparently squaretrade isn't able to offer these plans in the state of Wisconsin.
