iPod or MP3 player for 13 yr old?

Myy dd 12 (soon to be 13) wants an iPod or MP3 player for her bday, Which is best and the easiest?? DO you need subscriptions to download music?? I am looking a t a very inexpensive ($40) mp3 at Walmart as a starter for her (don't want to spend too much as she is also probably getting a cell phone as well from us for her bday). I am just sick of buying her cd's that she listens to for a month then off they go to sit and get dusty..With as fast as music changes, I figured it would be easier for her to just add and erase songs as her interests change.. ANy thoughts???

The advantage of the IPod is cool factor, really no different from any of the others in performance. I have a RIO MP3 player and chose it for the features it had that make listening to audio books easy. My girls both have different versions of IPods.

I like my video ipod too much to go with some other brand. They are pricey though but the video feature is too cool.

iPod...the itunes software is very easy to use. She probably wants an iPod anyway. You don't need a subscription to iTunes...you can pay as you go.

Depends on how well do you think your dd will take care of it. Ipods are pretty expensive depending on what you get. If you think she will take care of it really well, then yes an ipod. But if not maybe a less expensive mp3 player.

If you get a non ipod mp3 player its still pretty easy to send the music files to your mp3 player.

IPOD all the way!!

I just set up a MP3 player for my younger cousin and it was a royal pain in the butt. It was a $50 one and it said that it could hold 80 songs. Yeah, 80 if they are all brought in at worst quality. I think it would be much better to hold off and get her a good one, than a cheap one.
