Ipod Nano may have bit the dust

My 5th generation Ipod Nano has been a problem for a couple of months. It wouldn't charge by hooking it up to my computer so I hook it up to a wall charger.

Now it won't even sync. But when I hook it up to my computer, my computer says it is there.

So far I've uninstalled and reinstalled Itunes twice. I've turned off the Ipod to get the Apple showing and restarted it.
I have even tried to restore it to the factory settings but I can't get that to work because it won't link to Itunes and the only instructions I have for that needs it to link to Itunes.

Before I go out and pick up a new Ipod Nano, anyone know if there is a step I'm missing to get this thing to work?

I just tried unsubscribing and resubscribing to my podcasts and that didn't work.

I think it's time to give it up and go buy a new Ipod.

I tried to stop in at the Apple Store and it would be a 2 hour wait before they could get to me.

I looked around and didn't see much for Ipod's anymore. They have the shuffle that doesn't have a window to look thru, the 6th gen nano which doesn't have a wheel and the Ipod Touch.
I like to play Mystery Mansion Pinball which you need to see and have a wheel to make it work.
I would never use all the bells and whistles on the Ipod Touch. The only other person I know with the video chat feature is my son so that would be a waste for me. I have a Droid so I don't need the wireless internet feature on that as well.
I haven't found a way to access my Itunes on the Droid. Too bad. That would be a great feature.

I think I'll hit google and see if I can find another 5th gen. Ipod that isn't too expensive.

Here's a funny. DS15 walked by me and saw me looking at the 5th gen ipods on the internet.
He says "Mom, get out of the dark ages and get an Ipod touch."

He just got one for Christmas and is loving it.

if you do decide to get a new one from the apple store, take your old one with you, they will give you 10% off a new one. my battery blew up on my old one and they offered me the 10%off.
