ipod nano 5th or 6th generation??

Thinking of getting DS age 15 a 16G ipod for xmas. Not sure if we should snag one of the old 5th generation ones (he has filled his 8G one) or go with the new 6th generation. Any opinions or advice? Don't want to go with the Touch, too expensive and not what he is looking for at this point.

There is no camera on the new one.

The camera on the 5th gen is video only. I think the 6th gen is really nice!

Definitely get the older generation. The new one doesn't have video either-can't play movies or music videos. The new one is nice, but it only has music and an FM radio. I guess it depends on which features he wants more. I did see on another board that people were finding the 5th generation nanos on clearance at Staples for about 1/2 price, but it's very YMMV.

fyi I just ordered a 5th gen Nano from Apple.com yesterday - refurbished. Comes with full one year warranty in box and looking brand spankin new. Paid $99, free shipping and they had every color under the rainbow to choose from - which was good because our son loves orange!
