iPod in pocket, laptop on lap, iPod screen now messed up

My son's Nano screen looks like 1/3 of it is burned after the corner of the laptop sat against his pocket for 2+ hours (of World of Warcraft ). You can still scroll but only the top portion of the screen displays anything. I have searched for advice but can only come up with info about scratches and cracks. Help!
