iPod help!!!

All of a sudden my iPod touch says it needs to be pulged into itunes and when i do it says i need to restore it. I cant do anything with my ipod until itunes reconizes it. please help

ok i know this seems like a dumb answer and youve prob already tried it, but did u turn it off and then turn it back on?

if so u may need to download your ipod on to itunes. what i mean is that u have to put what kind of ipod u have on itunes so it can recognize it. my dad usually deals with mine so i really dont know.
