iPhone Tips/Apps for Disney

Yes, there's solid 3G access throughout the parks. It's spotty inside some of the buildings but outside is fine. Also don't forget that if you have the Toy Story Midway Mania game for the iPhone, you can unlock wallpapers by playing the game in front of the Midway Mania game at DHS. Cool use of the GPS.

Have you tried Pandora? It's a FREE cool radio station that customizes music to your taste. It won't be helpful when you're in the park but you need to load up on aps to enjoy on the airplane. I've not tried any movies on the iphone because I can't imagine they'd be enjoyable on the small screen. I've read kindle books on the iphone and it's actually okay -not as good as reading a real book but not bad if you're stuck on an airplane.

I have some free tv episodes on my ipod touch and it's really not too bad watching a half hour show. There are also some free sesame street downloads.

I use one of these with my blackberry or Aircard to create my own wifi Hotpsot. It has an internal battery that runs for several hours and it will charge your 3G capable phone also.

I am ready for Project X, the app the DIS is rolling out next week. It is going to be awesome! The boards on an iphone - formated for an Iphone!

Yesterday I bought
WDW Wait Times
WDW Dining
WDW Maps
and the OLP Transportation Wizard.

They all seem really helpful and I'm looking forward to testing them out at the park. I really like home the Dining app keeps track of your rezzie times and confirm numbers.

Great thread! I'm in love :love:with my iPhone as well and really looking forward to using it to make our trip great!

Would somebody list the actual names of the apps that y'all are talking about? I'm really bad at the search feature in the App store!:confused3

Thanks!

Thanks so much for posting this! We just booked a last minute trip for Dec 12 and my iphone will come in so handy, the park times app is too cool!

So I've added a bunch of Disney apps (dining, Mouse Memo, wait times...), but I'm looking for the best way to add which parks we're going to on each day. :confused3 Should I just add it to the calendar? I would have thought Mouse Memo would give you a calendar so you could look at each day, but so far all its been good for is ADR #s.

I'm just using my calendar for that. I also thought MouseMemo would have it. My MM keeps closing when I try to go back to the main menu after adding something.

What dining and wait time apps are you using? Are they official WDW apps or something else? Thanks!:yay:

Thanks...guess I'll just use my calendar. Just so boring ;)...I want an app!

I don't think they're "official" Disney apps. I know WDW Wait Times has a free and pay version (without ads). I have the free one that allows you to enter current wait times, so it's dependent on people reporting correct info.

I purchased the $0.99 app titled "WDW Wait Times" - the one that has a pic of astro orbitor and the red clock in upper right hand corner. (there are two apps with this exact name, the pic is different) Used it in the parks in October over a weekend - around the middle of the month and again on 11/11. I was pleasantly surprised at how accurate the wait times were. Note, both times the parks were not crowded, so interested in seeing how they work on busy days - but so far so good. They don't list every ride, just the most popular ones. They also don't list any info regarding fastpasses (i.e. all fastpasses have been distributed for the day). It does have the "recent times" feature where you can see the time and associated wait time submitted by other users. When I was there, I think I was the only person in HS submitting times!!!! But it was still very close to the actual times. It will be great when more people purchase and use the app.

No problem using 3G network to submit times to the app inside the parks. As previously noted there are a few buildings where the connection will not work (The Land in Epcot is one), but the majority of places/buildings worked fine.

Just got an iphone. Thanks for the info. We got it a moth before we planned to get it to have it at WDW.:cool1:
