I am thinking of getting an iPhone here in the next 30 days. I have heard things about a new one coming out? Should I push off my purchase until then, provided they come out with the new one in this 30 day window?

I do TONS of texting and am on Facebook lots so I would use those 2 apps pretty regularly.

I have also read that those who have been texting on a regular keypad, like myself, that it is hard to change over.

Any suggestions on what I should do? I am so confused so PLEASE be honest!! Pro's AND Con's welcome!!!

THANKS!!

Oh! I hadn't heard of a new iPhone coming out! I heard something about a software update this summer, but that's all. I'm out of the loop!

I have a first gen phone and I'm quite happy with it! Since Apple provides me software updates that make it *almost* as good as a new one (mine doesn't have GPS, but no biggie), it really hasn't made me wish I could upgrade.

Love my iPhone. And Facebook and texting will very likely remain the same, anyway. :thumbsup2

I guess it is new software...but how will that effect it if i buy now???

Shouldn't be a problem. Apple releases the software via iTunes and you can just load it on your phone. At least, that's historically what they've done.

:confused3

I don't believe they are making new Iphones. The IPhones will ship with the new software soon and they are getting rid of the current Iphones with today's software.

If you want to wait, you would save the $10-$20 they will charge current Iphone users for the software upgrade.

the best thing about the new software will be that your keyboard will work in landscape mode (turning the Iphone sideways), thus giving you a bigger keypad.

If you are proficient at typing with today's keypads (the touchpad), it might take you a bit of time to get used to a QWERTY keyboard.

In the past iPhone users received the upgrade free. iTouch users did have to pay.

I had a 1st gen iphone, and recently upgraded to the 3g model. I received the previous software upgrades free, I'm assuming 3.0 will work the same way.
