Hi guys. I used to have no problems at all uploading photos in our photo threads, but now, I almost always get a “file is too large” error. How do you guys get around this? I don’t see an easy way to re-size photos, so I’ve started doing a screenshot first (which is a smaller file). But the screenshot ends up with black bars because the photo is not the same size as the screen. Any tips from iPhone users?
The bane of my existence.
I'm not a photo expert so maybe there are better ways, but here are things that I do:
1) Crop the photo, if there are parts available to be cropped. If you can crop enough of it, you can get the file size down enough to post.
2) E-mail the photos to myself, select the lower file size when it prompts you, re-save to your phone, then you can post the smaller file size versions. This is sort of a pain and creates duplicate photos in your library, but works in a pinch.
3) If I'm at my PC, I'll download the photo from iCloud, edit the file size using the Paint program (I can elaborate if needed), then I can post. This is what I'll do if I have a lot of pics to re-size and post.
I've downloaded various iPhone apps that allow batch re-sizing of photos, but they are third-party apps and, perhaps unfairly, I've always been a little leery of allowing access to my photos to these types of programs.
Maybe others have some better ideas.
